Tim English re-signs with the Western Bulldogs until at least the end of the 2024 season.
Monday, 20 June 2022
Tim English will miss at least one match after developing a headache consistent with delayed concussion that was the result of a dangerous tackle by Braydon Preuss that resulted in a one-match ban for Greater Western Sydney's ruckman.
Friday, 22 April 2022
Tim English will be sidelined for multiple weeks after suffering a hamstring injury at training.
Saturday, 17 April 2021
Bulldogs forwards coach Ash Hansen says Tim English is starting to enjoy his footy more in 2021.

"He's not an overly emotional man, Tim, he's very level-headed and very focused. But we are starting to see some stronger celebrations, some smiles and a real presence when he's playing forward," Hansen said.

"I think that naturally comes when young players start to impact the game, develop that inner belief and have experiences where they know they can contribute to a winning side. He certainly looks like he's excited to hit contests, he's getting more confidence with his craft, and he's developing more nous each week."

Wednesday, 20 January 2021
Tim English has stacked on a couple of kilos as he looks to compete with some of the AFL's bigger bodies in the ruck in 2021.

"I put on another couple of kilos over the off-season and it's obviously a big focus for me after last season and throughout my career so far [I've wanted] to put on a bit more muscle mass. I've put on another couple of kilos which is what everyone wants to hear," English said.

"It's finding a balance between putting on the right sort of weight and being able to play to my strengths on the ground."

Saturday, 18 July 2020
Tim English earns praise from Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge after leading his side's 42-point rout of Essendon with a career-best performance that consisted of 22 disposals, seven marks, six clearances, and a goal.

"When you're so tall, you're going to provide the team with some aerial opportunities and tonight he not only did that, he was influential with his ruck play with his hitouts and he really got us going," Beveridge said.

"Tonight, you know, it is probably a little bit of an awakening for him that he can have a significant impact on the game."

Sunday, 12 July 2020
Tim English has won 22 disposals in each of the past two games and has taken more intercept marks this year than all bar two players at the Western Bulldogs, reeling in more than three per week.

"Tim's starting to flourish in his own game, because he knows he's supported. But he's never ever been glass half-empty. He knows he can play and he's just weathered a bit of a storm," Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge said.

"He's still going to have his challenges. He's got some coming up ahead but his last few weeks have been significant."

Thursday, 4 July 2019
Tim English signs a two-year contract extension to remain at the Bulldogs until the end of 2022.

"Tim is one of the most exciting young ruckmen in the competition and we are thrilled to have him recommit to our club," Dogs list manager Sam Power said.

"Watching his development as a player over the past three years has been really pleasing. Naturally, ruckmen take time to develop, but Tim has taken some big steps this year at AFL level."

Monday, 18 February 2019
Tim English has declared he's now equipped to assume the No.1 mantle at the Western Bulldogs after breaking into triple figures on the scales this summer.

"The running aspect is a big one, covering more kilometres has been important. The gym side of things has helped and obviously putting size on is still a big goal for me," English said.

"Being able to do that without any hiccups or interruptions has been great.

"I'm sitting at about 100kg at the moment and I think I came to the club at 89. I've put on a fair bit since I've arrived, it's probably been 3-4 each year so it's good to actually see that development's coming in."

Tuesday, 22 May 2018
Tim English will miss at least a month after developing minor bone stress in his left foot following a VFL match on the weekend.

The 20-year-old ruckman complained of discomfort after collecting 26 disposals and 29 hit-outs in Footscray's win over Werribee.

Saturday, 14 April 2018
Just five games into his promising AFL career, Tim English is embracing the challenge of being the Western Bulldogs' No. 1 ruckman.

"I enjoy the challenge of playing in the ruck and I enjoy the competitive aspect with the other ruckmen at the club which drives all to be better," English said.

"'Bevo' has been brilliant with his communication because he's been really open and honest on where I'm at, what I need to work on and all the little things I need to do within a game.

Sunday, 28 May 2017
Tim English is involved in a car accident on his way to Etihad Stadium for his debut AFL game against St Kilda.

The 19-year-old will have lasting memories of his first game for a number of reasons, including a collision with umpire Simon Meredith during the second quarter that is likely to result in a fine.

"It's not the ideal preparation for a debut," Bulldogs teammate Tory Dickson told Channel Nine.

"I think someone went up the back of him. I think the car was written off and had to be towed away.

"He wasn't late or anything, but it was a nice little story for his first game."

Saturday, 27 May 2017
Timothy English makes his AFL debut for the Western Bulldogs at Docklands Stadium with 7 disposals (a kick and 6 handballs), a mark, 3 tackles and 3 hitouts in a 40-point win over St Kilda.
Monday, 3 April 2017
The Western Bulldogs have moved swiftly to secure the long-term services of draftee ruckman Tim English, extending the exciting West Australian's contract until the end of 2020.

"It's a huge thing - the club showing faith in me to firstly pick me in the draft, and then extending the contract gives you the confidence [in the knowledge] your development is tracking well," English said.

"I feel as though I've fitted in relatively well, and have a good relationship developing with the players."

Sunday, 19 March 2017
Bulldog great Luke Darcy says he wouldn't be opposed to giving teenage ruckman Tim English a baptism of fire against Collingwood in round one.

With No.1 big man Jordan Roughead sidelined with a hamstring injury, and Tom Campbell battling an ankle complaint, coach Luke Beveridge recently declared the 19-year-old was in the frame to make his debut against the Magpies.

"I think Tim's ability to run and cover the ground will hold him in good stead, and the fact other sides wouldn't have had a good look at him," Darcy said.

"Knowing 'Bevo', I don't think he would have any issues giving him a game in round one if he thought Tim could do the job.

"The maturity of the draftees these days suggest to me a debut for Tim is very possible."

Saturday, 26 November 2016
Bulldogs draftee Tim English says his biggest challenge is to increase his physical frame.

English said that the experience he gained late this season with South Fremantle in the WAFL was extremely beneficial, and he's prepared to bide his time developing in the VFL in 2017.

"Playing senior footy against bigger bodies certainly helped me with South Fremantle, given the size aspect is probably a weakness of mine," he said.

"Going up against stronger players helped me learn about my body positioning and things like that, so that developed my game in a way.

"I have to increase my physical size, so I'll be getting in the gym and making sure my diet is right once I get to Melbourne."

Friday, 25 November 2016
The Western Bulldogs select Timothy English with pick No.19 in the 2016 National Draft.

"He needs to get a better vertical leap but he got long arms, so we see him being a really good ruckman who can give us first use, along with his work around the ground, which is rare among rucks," Bulldogs recruiting manager Simon Dalrymple said.

"We want the ball in his hand because he's such a nice kick."

Wednesday, 29 June 2016
A twenty-centimetre growth spurt has done wonders for the draft prospects of West Australian Tim English, with many observers believing he could be a top-10 pick.

English, now 204cm, was playing school football three years ago for Christ Church Grammar in Claremont, as a 184cm midfielder.

Last year he was captain of that same side and towering over his classmates at 200cm.

The traits English displayed as a mid-sized midfielder – his ability to cover the ground and use the ball well – have been widely apparent for Western Australia at this year's NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.

"I don't have the physique to body out some of the bigger guys yet so I'm really trying to improve on that," English said.

"That's one of my strengths as a ruckman that I'm able to move around the ground relatively well.

"I've been trying to use that and get on the end of a few offensive chains and set it up in the forward line."
