Darcy Macpherson Biography

Tuesday, 28 September 2021
Gold Coast will look to move Darcy Macpherson on in the upcoming trade period.

Macpherson has played 62 matches since being drafted as a rookie in 2015 and finished third in the 2019 best and fairest award but fell out of favour this season.

Wednesday, 14 August 2019
Will Brodie, Darcy Macpherson, Jez McLennan and Caleb Graham re-sign with Gold Coast to remain at the club until the end of 2022.
Wednesday, 24 July 2019
Darcy Macpherson is averaging 19 disposals in his new midfield role at the Suns in 2019 thus far.

His defensive output is also up there with the best players in the game, currently ranking third for most pressure acts in the league.

"It's the first year I've strung a number of games together and got into the seniors. I'm happy with how things have gone this year, personally," he said.

"I always dreamt about being a midfielder in the AFL. I still don't think I'm there yet, but I worked through pre-season wanting to be in the midfield."

Tuesday, 24 April 2018
Darcy MacPherson will miss at least 12 weeks with a broken right leg.

The Suns small forward landed awkwardly in the second quarter Gold Coast's clash against Brisbane and was immediately taken from the field.

It's a huge setback for the 20-year-old, who had made a home in Gold Coast's forward line early in the season.

Saturday, 10 March 2018
Darcy Macpherson says the focus for the Suns' forward group in 2018 is defensive pressure.

"It's great to have a bunch of blokes around you harassing and playing as one," Macpherson said.

"We're a little family in the forward line, checking in all the time, having a joke and seeing who gets the most tackles.

"We see who makes the most tackles and the loser has to shout coffee, so we have some fun with it."

Saturday, 7 May 2016
Darcy Macpherson makes his AFL debut for Gold Coast with 10 disposals (5 kicks and 5 handballs), 3 marks, 9 tackles and a goal in a 73-point loss to Melbourne.
Tuesday, 27 October 2015
The Western Bulldogs elect not to nominate Darcy MacPherson as a father-son prospect ahead of the coming NAB AFL Draft, but will consider the teenager on the night if he is still available at the right choice.
