Aaron Hall Biography

Tuesday, 22 February 2022
Aaron Hall is in doubt for North Melbourne's 2022 season opener against Hawthorn due to a hamstring injury sustained during an intraclub match.
Tuesday, 18 February 2020
Aaron Hall will have to wait at least another week to continue his push for a senior return, with back spasms to sideline him from North Melbourne's pre-season opener on Friday night.

The ex-Suns ball-winner hasn't been sighted at AFL level since round six last year, after which the Roos dropped him to the VFL.

Friday, 5 July 2019
Aaron Hall will be stepping away from football indefinitely to deal with mental health issues.

The former Sun was on the verge of returning from a knee injury that has restricted his availability at his new club, but will now be given as much time as he needs to deal with his current concerns.

"Aaron has our full support as he works through some personal issues," North Melbourne general manager of football Cameron Joyce said.

"Aaron has indicated he needs to spend some time away from the club, to focus on his personal well-being and his family."

Friday, 16 November 2018
North Melbourne recruit Aaron Hall says his reputation as a poor defender is a non-issue.

"It's probably easy to criticise players league-wide around the defensive side, especially midfielders that are in a team that predominantly loses," Hall said.

"I understand that my offence probably far outweighs my defence, but I'll come in here and buy in on all aspects of the game and look to improve my game in every area."

Tuesday, 16 October 2018
Aaron Hall has been traded from Gold Coast to North Melbourne in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick (No.68).

"I have played 100 games and haven’t looked like playing finals and that has been a massive driver for me in this decision. Hopefully I can help make them a better team with my attributes," Hall said.

Thursday, 4 October 2018
Aaron Hall has publicly signaled his desire to play for North Melbourne in 2019 and Suns list manager Craig Cameron says the club is happy to accommodate him.

Hall appeared in a video on the Kangaroos' website and spoke of his desire to play at Arden Street in 2019.

"We've started conversations, but nothing has been offered (to us) at this point," Cameron said.

"I think we'll be able to do a deal with North quite comfortably during trade week."

Friday, 21 September 2018
Aaron Hall tours North Melbourne's headquarters, as the uncontracted Gold Coast midfielder edges closer to a move to the Kangaroos.
Tuesday, 24 July 2018
Aaron Hall's future with Gold Coast remains up in the air as rival clubs circle for his services in 2019.

The 27-year-old, who is out of contract at season's end, is understood to yet be offered a new deal to stay with the Suns.

Tuesday, 5 June 2018
Aaron Hall will miss 10 to 12 weeks, and potentially the rest of the 2018, after scans confirmed a pectoral injury suffered during the Suns' loss to Geelong at Metricon Stadium.
Friday, 16 March 2018
Aaron Hall will miss Gold Coast's 2018 season opener with a broken left finger.

The Gold Coast midfielder had surgery early in the week after suffering the injury against Brisbane in Sunday's JLT Community Series match at Southport.

Thursday, 23 February 2017
Aaron Hall says the next step in his development as a midfielder will be to improve the contested side of his game.

"Last year I didn't get too many first possessions," Hall said.

"As a midfielder, guys that get clearances and first possessions off the ruck tap, get three or four more possession per game and those clearance numbers are pivotal in the way games are won and lost.

"I've really looked at a lot of tape, asking questions, learning how to use my body."

Friday, 22 July 2016
Aaron Hall is set to miss three games with a hamstring injury.
Friday, 24 June 2016
Aaron Hall says he will use his recent axing from the Suns' senior side as motivationto learn and grow as a player.

"So many people go through ups and down in their career, and although I probably didn't agree with it, there's no use sulking about it, it wasn't going to change anything," Hall said.

"I just thought I'd cop it on the chin and move forward and react in the most professional way possible, by going back to the twos and putting in a good performance."

Tuesday, 21 June 2016
After being dropped to the reserves for one week, Gold Coast midfielder Aaron Hall will return to the Suns' senior team to play Hawthorn this week.

"He did really well. He went back and worked on the things he needed to," Gold Coast football manager Marcus Ashcroft said.

"Aaron responded in the way his teammates and coaches liked. It's a big tick for him."

Friday, 10 June 2016
Suns coach says Aaron Hall needs to rediscover his form in the NEAFL after being dropped from the senior side.

"We just feel he needs to go back to rediscover those basics that we talk about and value internally," Eade said.

"He's just got to go back and work on those things. He's certainly in our best side. I don't think it'll be long until he gets back."

Thursday, 9 June 2016
Aaron Hall has been omitted from Gold Coast's team to play Richmond at the MCG on Sunday.

It's a stunning fall from grace for the 25-year-old, who was one of the form players in the competition in the opening month, where he averaged 32 disposals a game.

"There’s also a few things, part of his game that need correction that he’s dropped away in that he had earlier in the year," Suns coach Rodney Eade said.

"We’ve spoken to Aaron about that so we just felt for his confidence and for us that he needs to go back and rediscover that and just get the basics right."

Wednesday, 13 April 2016
Aaron Hall averages 36 disposals a game through the first three rounds and is a major reason behind the Suns' unbeaten start so far in 2016.

After starting his career as a forward, Hall was forced into Gold Coast's engine room, coming into the midfield during the back half of 2015 as the Suns battled to overcome a crippling injury toll.

The Tasmanian finished last season strongly, averaging 26 touches over the final seven rounds, and was guaranteed a midfield start by coach Rodney Eade once the injured big guns like Dion Prestia and Gary Ablett returned this season.

"I like to train hard and get the best out of my body, but I've only played in the midfield at AFL level for 14 games," Hall said.

"There's a lot of improvement in terms of the contested side of my game, first possession, and getting some more clearances.

"I'm excited about that and I'm excited to learn and implement those things into my game."

Sunday, 20 March 2016
Aaron Hall says he is determined to continue the form he showed at the tail end of 2015.

"I want to be an elite midfielder in the AFL, be damaging and be a real cog in our team, and that's what I'm striving for at the moment," Hall said.

"I want to learn as much as I can. I don't reflect so much … 10 games isn't enough to be a good midfielder."

Friday, 25 September 2015
Aaron Hall signs a three-year contract extension with the Suns that will keep him at the club until the end of 2018.

The 24-year-old agreed to stay on the back of a career-best burst to finish the season.

After being moved into the midfield, Hall averaged 27 disposals a match over the final seven rounds and finished seventh in the Suns' best and fairest.

"I'm really excited to commit to the club for what I’m sure will be a very exciting and successful period over the next three years," Hall said.

"I loved the opportunity Rocket gave me to play through the midfield in the latter part of the season, and I am really encouraged by his commitment to utilising me as part of a full-strength midfield rotation next year."

Monday, 17 August 2015
In-form and out of contract, Aaron Hall hopes to finish the season strongly to secure his future with the Suns.

In his past four outings, Hall has averaged 26 possessions (including 10 contested), taking advantage of his licence to take the game on with his pace and natural attacking flair.

"I just want to focus on playing good footy and hopefully let the contract take care of itself," Hall said.

"My manager is in talks with the club, and hopefully a deal will get done soon."

Saturday, 31 March 2012
Aaron Hall makes his AFL debut for Gold Coast with 17 disposals (7 kicks and 10 handballs), 3 marks and a tackle in a 69-point loss to Adelaide.
Thursday, 2 February 2012
Aaron Hall's late growth spurt was the catalyst for his rise to prominence and a spot on Gold Coast's list.

"He's an exciting young talent," Suns' recruitment manager Scott Clayton said.

"He's been a late developer in terms of his growth. He was quite small as a 17-year-old but had a big growth spurt in recent years. When we got through the national draft we were very keen to get him, which we did."
