Melbourne Demons Post-Match Quotes
Dean Bailey on being competitive early only to be blown out again:
"At least we were competitive, better than the week before. To be competitive for 30 minutes and then fall into the same traps as last week was disappointing."
Dean Bailey on whether players were having difficulty with the game-plan:
"I'm not asking them to do anything radical from the game-plan. Today was very simple about being competitive, we spoke about it during the week, to play contested football, to win contested football, to play that way. There was no difficulty in understanding the approach to today's game."
Dean Bailey on turning things around:
"There's hard work ahead of us and bring it on, I'm really excited to be looking at turning this group around, because the first two weeks have been poor. So the great challenge for all of us, we've got the answers, we just need to work, we need to train. You get confidence from training and that's what we'll be doing."
Dean Bailey on playing reigning premiers Geelong next week:
"We've got another game next week and we get a chance to prove ourselves and play more competitive for longer against the best team in the competition."
Western Bulldogs Post-Match Quotes
Rodney Eade on playing a Melbourne team on the rebound after a big loss:
"We knew Melbourne initially were going to be up and about. The pleasing thing was not only to play some good football, but to maintain that for the whole game. When the score is blown out you can develop bad habits, the team goes against what you preach and the way you want to play, but I didn't see many signs of that."
Rodney Eade on a great game by youngster Josh Hill:
"Like any young lad he's still got a lot to learn. He hasn't achieved much yet really, but his form's been encouraging."
Rodney Eade on how Dean Bailey will cop with two big losses:
"I know Dean's a very strong individual and I've got no doubt they've got talent in their team. But the thing is they're doing things differently at this stage, it just takes time for players to gel with that. I certainly wouldn't be throwing the baby out with the bathwater just yet."
