Nathan Bassett on Austin Wonaeamirri:
"He was at Norwood last year and I kept pumping him up to Matt Rendell the recruiting guy but Matty didn't see as many things in him as I saw, so that's just the way it goes. It is good to see him doing great, he is a wonderful young man, good to see him kick four goals (against Fremantle) and really contribute."
Nathan Bassett on the Melbourne Demons:
"They're a team that tend to run on passion and confidence, so when things are going well they're going really well, and when they aren't going well they're not. They're going to take some confidence coming in against us and especially with the fact they beat us last year, and that's something we have to change."
Scott Stevens on playing the bottom placed Demons:
"We've got to prepare for them like any other team. It will be a tough competition and we're going to have to win it. No-one is going to hand it to us. You can't take your foot off the pedal ever because you never know what could happen and teams can score very quickly these days as Melbourne showed last week."
Scott Stevens on Melbourne's form:
"the last half of footy they played was exceptional after being 51 points down and coming back to win the game. They are not playing terribly right at this moment and they'll get a lot of confidence from that win"
Brett Burton on Melbourne coming off a win:
"Obviously, they've got confidence after having their first win of the season. They would've reviewed it over the week and then had the weekend off, so they'll be raring to go."
Brett Burton on playing the battling Demons:
"I guess you always draw back on the last time you played them. We realise that we lost to them last year when they were under the pump, so we're wary of that. We know we want to rectify it, so that's certainly in our thinking as well."
Brett Burton on whether this is a danger game:
"I never read into 'danger' games. Every game is a danger game in a sense because at the start of the game is a 50-50 contest. They've obviously won their last game and we won our last game, so we'll be starting on an even keel."
Brett Burton on winning home games:
"We really want to concentrate on keeping our home game winning record up. We've been good this year, but it was something that we were poor at last year, so we'll be focussing on that."
Brent Reilly on being out injured:
"Everything's going well and hopefully I'll be back. It seems like I've done another pre-season, really. I've been running a fair bit, done a bit on the bike, but mainly just running because it hasn't affected the healing of the hand. I've done a lot with the injured boys and Stephen Schwerdt so I feel pretty fit at the moment. I feel ready to go."
Brett Burton on playing attacking football:
"Geelong took it into another level last year. You are not going to be able to match them if you just try to shut down and defend. We recognised that and said we have to add some attack to our game. Our trademark is we want to play with flair and attack and play on at all costs and try to play a high-scoring brand of footy."
Brett Burton on playing with flair:
"It is not chaos. We have still got structures and systems so we don't just do our own thing. But we have certainly got licence. I like to play with a bit of flair so it suits me down to the ground; whether it is trying to play on after a mark and kick a goal or take a high-flying mark."
Brett Burton on playing exciting footy for the fans:
"It is exciting for the guys around you and the team. It is also exciting for our fans to see that kind of footy and we realise we have a duty of care to our fans. They pay money to come and see the game and they don't want to see a game where you kick 10 goals and play shut-down, boring footy."
Kurt Tippett on alternating between ruck and forward:
"I've really enjoyed the dual role. The two positions complement each other really well in that if you're having a quiet day up forward you can go into the middle, run around a bit and try to get your hands on the ball. If you can get involved that way, then you can go back forward with a bit more confidence and feeling more comfortable with yourself. So it works well."
Kurt Tippett on winning the hard ball:
"Second-efforts and winning the contested ball are something that I pride myself on. I really enjoy the challenge of trying to win the hard ball and I'm looking to make that one of the strengths of my game."
Brad Symes on being injured and having to work his way back into the side:
"I've played the first six rounds and strung some good games together. When you're in the side and the side is playing well you really want to work hard to keep your spot in there. It's a bit disappointing for me but I'm sure if I can get back there within two or three I can restart from where I took off."
Dean Bailey on the Hall of Fame Tribute Match break:
"It would have been nice, if you could write the script - we win the way we did the second half against Fremantle, then played another game at the MCG, a home game, it would have been a good test for us to build on that game."
Dean Bailey on playing against the Crows:
"It'll get down to ball use, especially at AAMI Stadium against a really well structured club. It's a great challenge at AAMI, and our players are really looking forward to it. There's still a bit of momentum there at training, and I'm keen for the game to get played."
Dean Bailey on moving the ball quickly:
"In the second half (against Fremantle), we were able to move the ball at the speed that gave us space in the forward line, and when you can do that you do open up your forward line, and you have multiple options when you can get in there quick."
Dean Bailey on Austin Wonaeamirri:
"Aussie, as soon as he's arrived at the club he's trained incredibly hard, he's been very diligent with his training. We're ecstatic with the progress he's made in such a short period of time. There's not a lot of him but he packs a powerful punch."
Dean Bailey on training during the Hall of Fame Tribute Match break:
"We'll be training, absolutely. We won't be going real hard but we'll still be training with a lot of intensity, we've got to get better. If the other teams aren't training and we are, then that's our chance to sneak up on them."
