Terry Wallace on whether Nick Riewoldt will play on opposite wings with Matthew Richardson:
"I've seen Nick play those sorts of roles before, it depends what they're doing with their structure, doesn't it?. It depends what is happening with Fraser, the ruck situation, whether Michael Gardiner comes back into the side, which we think would be a reasonable chance."
Terry Wallace on the importance of this game:
"You've got the bye the week after, so from that point of view it gets the set-up of almost a final, because you've got one week and then the opportunity to get a break. We've had tough games against unbeaten sides, we come off the break and play Geelong next."
Terry Wallace on St Kilda being questioned by critics:
"St Kilda have been under their own sort of pressure publicly, which we probably went through three weeks ago. Usually you get a pretty strong resolve that comes along with that pressure that's applied from different quarters. It will be a really interesting game."
Nick Riewoldt on playing against his cousin Jack Riewoldt:
"Every week that he's played I've been interested to see when he's been named, absolutely, every week I check up on how he's gone and I'm sure he does the same. Being similar players and playing in similar positions makes it a little bit more interesting."
Nick Riewoldt on an important match against Richmond:
"Richmond are probably the most improved side in recent weeks in the AFL. While it's only early days, they've turned their season around and we're in a position now where we're not going as well as we want to be. But our season's still very much alive and this is a crunch game for both clubs."
Steven Baker on his first game back from suspension against Port Adelaide:
"I was blowing pretty hard after the first half but it was a bit of a shock early just how fast the game was. I was pretty sore the next day. The last five or six weeks I've just been doing extra running but nothing prepares you for match fitness."
Ross Lyon on Fraser Gehrig's hands:
"His hands are very arthritic and sore and it is affecting his ball handling. If you see his fingers, they are all gnarled and have been dislocated. AFL footy, we all know, is brutal and physically demanding. Once you start playing games again, those issues become more acute."
Ross Lyon on the change in Fraser Gehrig's role:
"Fraser talks about the changes and why it's difficult for him to go on. He said 'in 2004 I used to stand at full-forward, Nick Riewoldt used to lead up just outside 50, turn around and kick it to me one-on-one'. He said 'That hasn't been the case for a few years now, I wish it was but it's not.'"
Ross Lyon on critics beginning to question St Kilda's ability:
"I rate us and I am confident in our ability and what we can do. I can't control anyone else's perspective. We think we are a final eight team. But you have got to win enough games to get in there."
Ross Lyon on Nick Dal Santo being tagged out of games:
"I have lost no faith in Nick Dal Santo whatsoever. He's a really integral part of our midfield and we expect him to play really well on Saturday night. I thought John Worsfold put the agenda on the table in that star midfielders get a lot of attention and not as much protection as the star forwards. Clearly, Nick Dal Santo gets a lot of attention."
Ross Lyon on dealing with a roaming Matthew Richardson:
"He's been running back, running forward, using him on the switch, he's the everywhere man. I think there's loose men back to defend and there's loose men back to attack and I think he's struck a really nice balance with both. He's one that gets spoken about a lot, he's a very special player and it takes a player with an enormous work rate to play on him."
Ross Lyon on Richmond winning the contested ball:
"Clearly their contested ball they consistently win it, Terry's not playing anyone that won't tackle, they've made some philosophical shifts. I think when people talk about Richmond, do they talk about the mechanics of their game changing dramatically? All I'm reading is about their spirit, the effort and the hardness and I think that highlights what I'm talking about."
Ross Lyon on accusations of playing lock-down footy:
"Anyone who says we are playing lock-down footy is kidding themselves. We don't play lock-down footy, we are lucky to target one player a week. That's inaccurate. I think there is a perception we play like the Swans. What a load of garbage. It couldn't be further from the truth. They have 100 stoppages a week and we have 60."
