Adelaide Crows Pre-Match Quotes
Neil Craig on the surprise of selecting James Sellar for his first game:
"I don't agree James' selection is from left-field and that's because we watch him more closely than the media, as we should. I really liked his pre-season. He crossed a lot of bridges as distinct from the previous one, where he was very poor. I certainly saw signs in the NAB Cup that indicated that he'd made some significant improvement."
Neil Craig on James Sellar's strengths:
"He gives us a slightly different dimension up forward and he certainly puts some pressure on Kenny McGregor. James has got a good feel for people around him, in terms of player awareness, and he's good on the lead. He's very quick for a guy his size and he's got real talent in terms of taking the ball and kicking."
Neil Craig on Jarrhan Jacky coming in for Brad Symes:
"Brad did a bit yesterday and we were pretty confident that he would come up. But obviously what we did aggravated the injury a bit. He did a bit more training this morning, but not a lot because it was too sore. Brad misses out and Jarrhan Jacky will come in."
Nathan Bassett
Nathan Bassett on the Crows winning the last six games against North Melbourne:
"They've been a good team for the past year-and-a-half and North Melbourne is very good at trying to set the record straight and change perception. So I'm sure it will come out hard and try to do something about it."
Nathan Bassett
Nathan Bassett on Adelaide's depth in defence:
"One of the great things about the team now is that we've started to add some real depth to our defence and more of our guys have the ability to play different roles. Nathan Bock came in last week when Ben went down and did a great job on Brendan Fevola and Scott Stevens can play that sort of role in defence too."
Chris Knights
Chris Knights on Adelaide's 4-2 record:
"We're travelling pretty well at the moment and 4-2 is a good position to be in. If we said at the start of the year that we would be 4-2 after six rounds - we would've taken it, so hopefully, we can build on that foundation."
Chris Knights
Chris Knights on having a relatively easy schedule in the next few weeks:
"We know that we've got a few home games coming up and we've been performing well at home this season, so we'd like to keep that up, but you can't get ahead of yourself. AFL is a tough game and as soon as you get ahead of yourself, it's usually when you have your downfall."
Chris Knights
Chris Knights on why some critics wrote off Adelaide in 2008:
"There are always going to be critics and there's probably a reason why. We've got a young list and we've had older players leave the club, but with a young list there's potential and opportunity for us to grow, develop and prove the critics wrong, which is what we want to do."
North Melbourne Kangaroos Pre-Match Quotes
Adam Simpson
Adam Simpson on controversy surrounding their last match when Sydney had 19 players on the ground:
"The club have handled it really well in terms of keeping the players away from the 19th man saga. As far as we're concerned it's done with. I don't know where the club's at with it, but we're fully concentrating on Adelaide and we've been like that since Monday."
Adam Simpson
Adam Simpson on playing Adelaide at AAMI Stadium:
"They've got a good record against us and have had the wood on us. Our record at AAMI Stadium hasn't been that great either. We've tried a few things that haven't worked against Adelaide so we'll have to go in with a different tack this week, and probably worry more about ourselves and get our game going the way we want it."
Adam Simpson
Adam Simpson on Josh Smith making his debut:
"He's an exciting talent. He's a big man, he's got clean hands and he's got a bit of presence about him which I'm sure you'll see tomorrow night. We're looking forward to seeing how he goes."
Nathan Thompson
Nathan Thompson on the Kangaroos' forward line:
"What we've got to do better is create out own space and a bit more movement in there. Once the other team's getting numbers in there we're becoming a bit stagnant whereas we've got to help each out and move out of each other's space a bit better."
