Neil Craig on Jason Porplyzia's third quarter:
"He was a very influential player in that third quarter - clean and with a minimum of fuss - it was an exceptional quarter of football from him. He's still got to be able to handle recognition from the media and a whole range of issues, which I'm sure he will, but until he does that he's not yet a Goodwin, McLeod, Edwards, Bassett, Burton-type player."
Jason Porplyzia on playing a dominant third quarter:
"I'm not really sure what happened. Things just sort of fell into place for me. Our guys were winning the ball out of the middle really well and created a lot of opportunities for the forwards, and I was just able to get on the end of a few and dish a couple out to my teammates, which was good."
Jason Porplyzia on adapting to the conditions:
"The conditions were greasy, and in the first half I was playing dry-weather footy. In the second half I adapted to more of a wet-weather style and it worked."
Neil Craig on not being happy with the final quarter:
"We just lost all of our competitiveness around the football with the attitude we played with in the last quarter, that's why we missed those easy shots because that's part of the attitude, the hardness to finish the goal when you need to. We just lost our hardness. Our mentality and fierceness at the ball, we lost it in the last quarter."
Neil Craig on fading in the final quarter:
"There needs to be recognition of our performance in the first three quarters, but as good as we were for the first three, I thought we were as poor in the last. What that really is is an indication of where we're at and how much more work we've got to do."
Neil Craig on needing to develop a ruthless streak:
"I think you need that streak. That's what we need to aim for, so we can play the full four quarters. So, it's a great win for us and an important win, but there's still some work to do."
Neil Craig on being inaccurate in the opening term:
"When you kick 1.8 there can be a tendency to become disheartened or disappointed, but we kept at it and for three quarters our playing group was fantastic. There are a lot of good things to come out of the game for us."
Neil Craig on positives from the game:
"For the number of young guys we had in the team, to play against the Kangaroos, it's not all gloom and doom. It was a great win for us, make no mistake about that, but we just didn't like the way we finished."
Drew Petrie on the game:
"The first half wasn't too bad. We stuck with them and applied some tactics we wanted to. But once they got a run on we went into our shells a bit and didn't try and attack the game. Our defenders got beaten one-on-one tonight and our delivery to our forwards in the second half wasn't great. We butchered the footy when we were going forward. We just didn't stand up when we needed to."
Drew Petrie on needing to get some wins:
"We can't afford to slip away from the pack. Sides start to cement themselves in the top or bottom half of the ladder now. Those three games, we've really got to show some spirit and character and perform."
Dean Laidley on North Melbourne's poor ball use:
"The way we used the ball by hand and foot was just absolutely appalling, absolutely appalling. Disgraceful, bordering on. They kicked 11.8 from our turnovers. That's it in a nutshell. And until our players get better at that it will be costly for us."
Dean Laidley on Daniel Pratt giving away costly 50m penalties:
"He's really got to look at himself, because the coach is getting sick and tired of him giving away 50m penalties. Then quickly you find yourselves seven or eight goals down and the game's been blown open. It better get fixed pretty quick."
