Mark Thompson on Gary Ablett bouncing back from an average game against the Dockers:
"He's a man. He'll get up because he's a champion player. He'll come back and I pity the poor bugger who plays on him this week, really. He had a few bruises all over his body but apart from that he'll be right to play."
Mark Thompson on Leigh Matthews saying the Cats form has been 'patchy':
"I would say he is probably observing the truth. We have lost four out of the last eight quarters, so that is patchy form. He doesn't talk much rubbish, Leigh. He tells the truth."
Mark Thompson on playing without Brad Ottens:
"It's not far away now, it's been a test to play without him, but we've come through it and players have had to adjust a bit. Blakey's been fantastic and so has West, we were even pleased with Mumford last week. All round, out of misfortune, we've been given the opportunity to look at other players."
Mark Thompson on being challenged during games:
"They're good games to play in and you have to experience it. Even the box last weekend, the last two weekends, it's working and we've been forced to work together, work through issues and we're doing it pretty well. The players are copping the same on the ground, they are being tested and it's a great thing."
Mark Thompson on Geelong's slow start:
"We're certainly not playing as well in the first quarter as last year but it is only round six, it's very early and we've already got six wins on the board. We really can't be pressing our players too much about too many things at the moment because they're winning games still."
Joel Macdonald on playing on Steve Johnson:
"He's another player that gets pretty slippery and a few of the boys might play on him at some stage, but yeah, I'll obviously be in defence."
Leigh Matthews on Brisbane's chances of beating Geelong:
"I think it's the best team we'll have taken down there in a couple of years. I believe we can win. Geelong only won by a point this week and by their own standards they've probably been a bit bursty. They've played some fantastic five minutes but they've been a bit patchy through the four quarters of the last two or three games."
Leigh Matthews on Rhan Hooper's goalkicking:
"His problem has been that he rushes himself and he rushes himself at training as well. What I've said to Rhan is that if he's going to run 5m with the ball, there probably isn't going to be anyone around to catch him because he has such speed. It's about not rushing himself and making sure he's balanced on his last few strides."
Travis Johnstone on Brisbane's leadership group:
"The leadership group is strong and demands a lot from each player. Everyone has a role and if you are not pulling your weight, the leadership group pulls guys aside. It's very confronting here. You can't get away with anything. But that's good; they are always teaching you new things."
