Is Monfries a future captain???
Monfries - Dissapointing in 2007 - but working hard in pre-season and looked good in the first game of the NAB..... Your a champ Angus!

I think Monfries is a champ but I couldn't see him as captian....

Wouldn't say captain honestly. I'd say Stanton's more likely. Maybe Winderlich.

I hope he does, his such a future Captain player! He needs to find himself more confident this year!

I'm a huge Angus fan because he reminds me of myself playing. Future captain? well i hope so, if he can keep improving there is only one way to go and that is to the top and his determination to win each contest that he is involved in in second to none. He has the skill and the courage to go along way and i hope it starts in 2008! Carn ' the Bombers!

he is in the mix i recken, he finds space like hirdy and has the heart of a lion but doesnt cause enough damage yet
Austin (Bombers supporter), 12 Mar 2008 22:46hide comment
I'm sure if Sheedy was in charge he'd make Courtney Johns or Laycock the next captain!

Monfries is a good player - obviously - and time will tell how he performs under our new coach... He's definately a ultra-competitive player, but I, too, wish he was more damaging..

I think there were a few of our players who had dissapointing seasons last year.. And I'm hoping that we haven't already seen the best of Mc Phee...

AS far as the captaincy goes, I'd like to think that Stanton, Watson, Hille, Mc Phee and Paddy Ryder were in the mix too.. Not that the issue of captaincy should be discussed at the moment..

UNLESS there are people here who would prefer to see Johnson, Mc Phee, Mc Veigh or anyone else captain at the moment so Lloydy can just concentrate on being the best full froward in the league?

Disagree with a disappointing 2007. Just needs to be given greater opportunity in the middle.
Has a massive heart and could certainly captain the bombers in the future.
Has stated he wants to play 300 games for the Bombers......... he's not going anywhere!

I agree... Monfries is the young gun who is going places... hopefully we will see him as the future captain because he is an inspirational player and person...
Ania from Melbourne (Bombers supporter), 6 Mar 2008 7:29hide comment
Gussie is a great player - he has verve on the field and doesn't hesitate to put his body on the line. I don't think we've seen the best of him yet and I know other teams see him as the threat he is. I think he has the potential to be leadership material but he is still young. If he stays with the Dons then a captaincy could definitely be in his future!!!
James (Bombers supporter), 5 Mar 2008 7:09hide comment
There's no questioning his work ethic and if anyone has the drive to succeed it would be him.

I'd like to see be a little more damaging with his disposals though.

Future captain is a big call but he does play with a lot of courage and isn't afraid to put his body on the line. Just needs to find that level of consistency this year and begin having a bigger influence on games of football... has the potential to be a 2 or 3 goal a game player. If we can get 30 or 40 goals out of him this year then that will certainly help our quest to get back in our rightful place in the top 8. The word potential has been brandied around our club a lot in recent years... Lets hope he delivers

I agree that he was heavly tagged last year he has alot of the coachs worried they should be.Angus is a gun of a player im not sure if he will make a captain only time will tell the thing is there will be other guys wanting it aswell.interesting!! go bombers round 1 lets give the roos a smashing.

future captain is a big call. I think he may have the potential to one day be in the leadership group and possibly the captain, but I suppose it all depends on how commited he stays to the bombers, if he decides to go elsewhere for better money etc. He is abit under-rated by many, and by some, he is over-rated. At the moment, I think he is a player the bombers need to keep and wil help in the bombers moving up and forward towards finals and possibly another premiership...

mate this guy has the goods - always puts his head over the footy and though there is little of him (even though he has bulked up a bit) he is a little goer.
