Trade bait
http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/afl/ourteam/index.php/heraldsun/comments/the_trady_bunch/

And so the arguments will start over who should be traded at the end of the year and who shouldn't.. I see merit in trading Lucas for a high draft pick when he's only got a few years left, but his value in ushering in our new forwards might be worth more than a young gun. What a fascinating 15 weeks it's going to be. **** I love football.

Lucas - unlikely but possible. Stants is contracted until 2010. Welsh, Lovett-Murray, Dyson and Winderlich (who are the others mentioned in the blog) are contracted until the end of '09, so they'd have to be paid out but could still be trade bait.

There are only a few players I can think of who they wouldn't consider trading, so you're right, it will be interesting. I just hope they make the right decisions pre-season.

Giving Dyson two years when we tried to get him to Freo, how intelligent. At the moment I think Winderlich's worth another year, same with Welsh and Lovett-Murray, who are good players. McPhee might be in trouble if he's not contracted

How funny is it Freo get them?

Winderlich, among other players, has obviously been having niggles (aside from the recent groin injury) for quite some time. I hope he recovers asap and can show the board how much he can add to the team. I don't want to see Welsh and McPhee go in a hurry either. We need players of their age, as they've got a few years worth of experience in their belt and they aren't close to retirement either.

What do you think is in store for Laycock and Johns?

Both are screwed. Laycock doesn't appear to have a heart and Johns couldn't keep up with a stuffed koala over 50 metres.

agree with dirk about johns and laycock but it seems most of our guys with a bit of size about them are soft.i would trade lloyd before lucas any day of the week captain or not! because when was the last time he strung 2 good games together? where lucas has been a shining light up forward for the last few years
