Alan Didak and round 2 pick for Ben Rutten and round 1 pick.
We are in real need for a Full Back.
Nathan Brown has the Centre Half Back post and it is his for the next 10 years if he stays in form.
Wakelin is comming to an end and Presty is getting on and hampered by injury.
On the other hand Adelaide are looking for a small sparky forward and this trade would be great for both teams!
We still have: Dale Thomas, Leon Davis and Paul Medhurst as small forwards.
A big need is a Full Back and getting a round 1 pick for a round 2 pick would be great. 2 First round picks will be great in last full draft year.
It is a roughly even trade and I will benefit both teams.
Also Ben Cousins would be great in pre season draft to complete us with probably a first round pick being a ruckman and perhaps an in and under midfielder?

Perhaps retiring: Rocca, Wakelin, Burns, Prestigicomo
Delist: Egan
Trade? Lonie

What the team could look like:
F: Ben Reid Sean Rusling Leon Davis
HF: Paul Medhurst Travis Cloke Dale Thomas
CEN: Rhyce Shaw Dane Swan Scott Pendlebury
HB: Tarkyn Lockyer Nathan Brown Heath Shaw
B: Harry O'Brien Ben Rutten Ben Johnson
FOLL: Josh Fraser Shane O'Bree Ben Cousins
BENCH: Cameron Wood Nick Maxwell Marty Clarke Sharrod Wellingham
EMG: Tyson Goldsack Chris Bryan Brodie Holland

What rubbish. Didak is loved by all of Collingwood!
You would retire Burns or Presti (the man is injured and will be right).
Delist Egan a round 1 draft pic with loads of ability. His knee is the reason his not playing not ability. Anyways with Davies showing what time can achieve no way.

Collingwood has proven over the last few years their recruiting and development is pretty spot on. The backman you believe we need is already playing in the VFL. Us true Collingwood fans can lay faith in Malthouse and his team

to make way for next years draft picks as next year will be the last full draft year we need to get rid of some players.
Do you have any better players in mind?
I'm just saying what could theoretrically be a nice team for next year.
With all the young tallent we have I totally agree that we should keep all our youngsters and wait for them develop.
Chris Egan in my view has been a bit of a flop, he would probably serve as decent trading bait but can't see him breaking into the senior side. His time here is close to up.
The retirement of Burns, Wakelin, Presti and Rocca is my only solution as to freeing spots on the list for next years draftees.
So, if you have any ideas as to players we can delist I'm open to ideas

Mate I think Lonie is finished which is sad. I hope every player on Collingwood's list continues next year. If not with us then with someone else.

By the way I wouldn't say no to trades like dumb arse Kangas did 4 1st round draft picks for Thompson and Hay... Look where the Hawks are, in the Kangas spot.

Yeah, wish the lists were bigger, but no such luck.
So players will have to go to make way for draft picks.
Brodie Holland, Ryan Lonie and Chris Egan I consider all to be tradable players. Whether that means we invest in a Justin Koschitzke, Matt Maguire or a Des Headland could all be possible.
It is really hard to make room for next years draft picks with such a good 44. If we can do 2 for 1 trades that would be the best. Then we can free up another space for another player.
Also Ryan Cook and Danny Stanley are tradable though definately not disposable.
All the other youngsters including Rusling I think really need to hand around as they willl develop.
Look out for John Anthony and Brett Macaffer to step up next season. They will both be real wild cards that might make good dream team players
Macaffer for VFL collingwood got piles of 4 goals, 4 goals and last week 5 goals. So by next year he looks like he will be incredible and John Anthony has strong hands and can play either forward or back wherever the gap. There is more need for him in the backline however I think he is much better up forward.
Getting rid of the old is the best solution. Burns, Wakelin, Rocca and Prestigiacomo are just that. So I really wouldn't discount it.

It's obvious you know ya stuff Chris but I'II agree to disagree. Burns and Presti are safe, players like that are the souls of the club. Get rid of them and you might just lose a few more down the track, I'II jump before I'm pushed.

Enjoy the rest of the season mate

Collingwood wont trade Didak otherwise they wouldve got Stevens a few years ago...and also is a magpie favorite...also in the best top 5 at the club mate
Christopher from Melbourne (Magpies supporter), 2 Jul 2008 18:09hide comment
also on the topic of Didak his is initially from SA and Rutten also being from SA however I noticed an article he wrote about him wanting Adelaide to be more like collingwood. Rutten is a great leader and the prime full back in the competition certainly deserves no less credit. Didak has had his off field troubles. WOuld be a rather even and beneficial trade for both sides.
Also with Macaffer developing as yet another small forward and Brad Dick returning we can trade one player from our "Midget forward line" I'm certain!

Never... are you insane didak is one of most vital players...

Go Pies...

I think the big overwhelming answer is "no!". Plus I think our abcks aren't doing too badly its more the need for a big burly straight kicking full forward as Rocca is obviously well off the mark, Reid is not a FF (yet - too skinny), and Rusling is great but obviously a concern due to the shoulder. But.. where are the FFs to come from!?

alan didak in a trade you must of lost the plot or what little sense you had left.
he's one of our best players mate !
didsy to stay . go pies !
Robert from Melbourne (Magpies supporter), 18 Jun 2008 19:32hide comment
No way should or would Collingwood ever trade out Didak. Not only does he have that X factor he is also part of the midfield/forward setup which I beleive are the most important positions to fill. In today's game it is all about winning the contested footy at the stoppages and then capitalising on the hard work with precise delivery, the latter of which Didak does. Once you have control of the game through winning contested footy the results take care of itself. This is the area we need to strengthen rather than the full back. Sure we need to replace our ageing players however as happened on Sunday in the second quarter and halfway through the third when the pies were in control of the game, if the ball delivery to Fev was under pressure or limited he struggled, thereby reducing the significance of having a supreme full back. The midfield needs to give a chop out to the defenders so we must strengthen the midfield with Burns type players.

no way are we getting rid of didak...thomas or obree if any one.and not for a fullback.didak has the best foot in the afl and is in all aus form. rutten is **** no way that trade happing...give brown ago dawes will come on.gold sack and anthony will get better.yes i like the idea of cousins i think he would help our young midfielders out in devolpment in football terms.blokes like pendles thomas wellingham mcarthy who i think will cover ur under midflieder who is going to be a great player for us of what ive seen.give wood some time in ruck i think he is good just needs more time.our list is young and healthy.brad dick and rusling will be back next year.building through draft is the only way.
Dave from Melbourne (Magpies supporter), 18 Jun 2008 3:39hide comment
Never going to happen. Teams aren't going to make big trades like this anymore unless big players want to leave, like Judd last year, the common theory now is to build through the draft. Also, even though we do need a top full-back like Rutten, Didak has something you just can't give away, its called the x-factor.
