Pendlebury is shaping to be our next captain when Burns hangs up the boots.
We all love Scotty but when he retires who will step in? Scott Pendlebury has become an amazing player through hard work and determination. I have infact heard reports of him working so hard that the coaches have had to say: slow down mate! He has improved his game incredibly and will one day become a super star. He came to collingwood with incredible class and evasive skills as many that come from a basketball background do. However this season there is something that he has done that I think is incredibly impressive. Previously Pendlebury was ONLY an attacking player and didn't go for tackles. This season he was comming 2nd in previous to this round and will work on his game till he has "perfected it". He has the application and leadership qualities of any past captain and I think with this young developing group of players he would be a great captain of the future. Work ethic of an even higher standard than Buckley which is pretty hard to believe.
At the start of the season I honestly had my doubts as to why he was selected in the leadership group, I honestly thought Heath Shaw should have been there instead, but since round 3 has not put a step wrong and has shown that he is more than capable of such a responsability.
Thoughts?

I just love how there are so many gun player born in 87: Cloke, Pendlebury, Thomas, Clarke. Infact my 4 favourite players and in my view the 4 that will be the "real" leadership group 3-4 years down the track.

Maybe not immediately, but he's definitely future captain material.

Yep, totally agree, but I would give the captancy to Tarkyn Lockyer for a few years first until Pendels matures a bit more. But yes, good post a certain leader of our club in the future.
