Should we trade our 1st round draft pick for Nathan Foley?
I think this would benefit both teams. We currently have only 2 players in the born in 84 and 85 bracket in Swan and Shaw, Foley could add to this and also fill our need in a speedy, clearance midfielder. He really impressed in the all star game with his speed and explosiveness showing that he can mix it with the best. We have lots of young developing players so trading away 1 draft pick I don't think is that big a deal. This would help Richmond in that they arn't planning to make the finals any time soon and they can load up on super young players to develop getting 2 1st round picks. We are comming close to a flag, as we can all smell from last 2 week and this trade I think will get us 1 step closer to the holy grail and certainly make us a more complete team.
Thoughts?

if Richmond did this deal then the fans would burn down Punt Road.
That would be the dumbest thing they would ever have done, possibly worse then drafting Tambling over Franklin

No, for two reasons.

Firstly, I don't think Richmond would trade him for only a 1st round draft pick, they would ask for another player or pick. This would make the deal too costly.

Secondly, with the looming introduction of 2 new clubs into the AFL, this year's draft wil be the last "full" draft, with the best talent available, for the next few years. We can't afford to give away our first round pick this year.

Personally I'd love the idea of this kind of midfielder, keeping in mind we are in need a solid inside midfielder with Burns close to retiring and O'Bree not getting any younger and Foley will certainly be able to step straight in to fill this gap and continue developing into an ever more incredible player. He has come from the Richmond rookie list so clearly he knows how to work hard and get the most out of himself and with this work ethic he will only reach greater heights. My thinking is that he is worth our 1st round draft pick as he is an all australian standard midfielder who is still young and developing and will fill our midfield gap perfectly.
