Rd 7 Collingwood vs Hawthorn Game Thread
Overall the head to head is Collingwood 93 and Hawthorn 53, since 2000 its been 6 a piece.
Last season saw Hawthorn defeat Collingwood 15.5 to 12.15, Collingwoods accuracy in front of goal was costly and who can remember the controversy of Sam Mitchell taking the ball over the line out of bounds but it wasnt called and they went on to kick the sealer.
The pies have won for of its past five games against the hawks with a avg of 17 goals kicked a game.
Heath Shaw is avg 25 touches of the sherrin in his 5 gigs at the MCG this year, a great sign.
The danger man is Sam Mitchell who avg 29 disposals and 8 clearances in the last 4 games against Collingwood.
Rocca could be a late withdrawl if it rains but even still i think the Pies can get up by 2 goals.

Dangerman got 39 touches as well. Perhaps the matchup staff should have read my game thread lol

We were still in the game at three quarter time but the Hawks were playing so much better than us. The last quater showed just how bad we were playing - we're not up to top four standards at the moment.

lets just face the facts, Hawthorn are a better side then Collingwood. They have too much in the guts and their forward line is way better then ours.
Hawks and Geelong will play off the GF.

It doesnt make sense anymore to play cute footy...we have speed to burn with young midfielders with brilliant skills, ferocious tacklers upfront and down back, booming kicks yet we week after week play on the boundary puttin pressure on our mids to be precise then deliver that to cloke, rocca & meddy on ridiculous angles when everyone knows cloke & rocca's best kick is straight on,and we wonder why we love our crummers and freak kicks by daisy, dids and neon?? we have atleast 7 great goal kickin mid fielders capable of 3 on any day....PLAY DOWN THE GUTS mick!..i for one am mind boggled to micks game plans...when will we be sick of being ALMOST there?

I think Franklin is the key. We have the players, Brown, Goldsack, Wakelin, Clarke, Shaw x 2, to match up on Roughead, Hodge, Rioli, Williams, Osborne. Franklin is the one who can make something out of nothing. If we can keep Franklin quiet, or he has one of his bad days, we'll win. Alos, we need to get on top of their midfield early, because they're the sort of team that if you give them a sniff, they'll run away from you. Sir Scott Burns will make the difference there for us.
