Ben Cousins at the Lexus Centre?
Would pie supporters like to see Ben Cousins in the black and white stripes?

I agree, he is pretty much an ideal match for the team. He'll give us that little bit of presence on the field that Bucks gave us. Considering we don't really have any established elite players, he'll also take some attention away from Swanny if he's used in the middle.

I reckon he's got 2-3 years of good footy in him. I'm just curious as to just how we will secure him? Anybody know what the required procedure would be?

I pretty sure that we would get him through the pre season draft where previously delisted players and players that don't get picked up in the draft can be selected.
I think this is correct, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'll get smashed with them, then get Sharrod Wellingham to drive us over to Fev's shop and trash it.

Can always get Kerr to come join the party and get Didak to get out the gun show!
All jokes aside Cousins would be a great pickup. He'd add that x-factor to our midfield and some much needed leadership and experience.

He is a champion of our game regardless of what he has done off field and under Mickys coaching I think can become that champion again and as all champions do PROVE EVERYONE WRONG! ^_^

I'd rather see him playing FOR the Pies than AGAINST us.

yeah, Burns will either finish this year or next. If he finishes this year he could do a Jimmy Clement and go out a hero rather than a Kouta or Whitnall where they just got so crap that the club has to get rid of them. I'd rather that never happen to such a fantastic leader like Burns having served our club for so long. Same with Wakelin. Finish on top of your game, and go out a hero and a champion. Would be great if both of them could take on positions at the club. Burns as perhaps a future Assistant Coach.. and Wakelin as a Defencive coach maybe?
Also Cousins in the Pre Season Draft would be an enormous win for the pies! He would add that much needed something to the midfield to really complete us as a team. Even if we were only to get 1 or 2 good seasons out of him that would still be excellent! His experience and leadership skills would be much appreciated and I think Micky and the gang can turn Couso around. They've done it before and I think they can do it again ^_^

I think he has another year in hima and i think the team will perform well for the next couple of years, with or withoot scotty, he is not one to jump out just because he is on top of his game i think he will only give it away when his body or mick gives him the word, anyway i think BC would be a great asset to our younger midfield, and Yes Mick will not put up with anything and i think Ben respects him too much to even try to push his luck.

Even if he were to call if quits, none of us want him to.
But if he does it would be great if he stayed at the club to help perhaps the youngsters develop or something. He is such a hard, inspirational player that he will always be welcome at the club.
But, 36 disposals carear best, he is clearly in form and an asset, I don't deny it. Just there arn't really any players that really should be delisted or you want to see leave the club. Which is the annoying thing about a 44 man list. It is the last year with a full draft so we need to make the most of it. But whatever happens, its up to Burnsey whether he wants to keep it up or not. If we win the flag, then I'm sure that he will retire on a high like Bucks would have last season. Wakelin, Rocca, Presti all the same I'd expect.

He would provide a great pick in the pre season draft and provide as the inside midfielder we need! He has incredible fitness and will be a great success. Also he was captain under Micky so I think he can control him. He has made mistakes, but I recon give him a go and he will take our midfield to the next level and really provide much needed experience and really fill the gap. So I like the idea.

Don't think much about him as a person, but if he can provide the goods bring him on!
Kendel (Magpies supporter), 3 Jun 2008 9:43 hide comment
YES!!! Cousins would be the midfeilder that we are looking for!! Fill the gap. And his experience is something that our "young" team could be lacking. (Although doesnt seemed to have had an impact yet)!!!

we don't want or need that drug f*cked smirker - let him rot at lower level footy
Christopher from Melbourne (Magpies supporter), 26 May 2008 19:53 hide comment
Jonathan Brown will cost us too much and is getting on in year... only 5 years left. While Cousins can be picked up in the pre-season draft as a possible midfielder who would really fill that gap in the midfield and up our clearances and lead by example. So a great option if we get the chance to grab him.
