Paul Licuria doing a lap of honour this week
The Pies are going to pay Tribute to Licca at this week’s match against North Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday night with a lap of honour.
I think he was one of our most underated players. His disposal wasnt always the cleanest but man he worked hard and never stopped running, probably had a bit to do with his early retirement at 28 or 29?
I reckon his best game was in 2002 in the Qualifying Final against Port at AAMI Stadium. I was lucky enough to be at that game and he touched it over 40 times and got us over the line. I won a bit of cash on that game, we were $6 to win lol and i got Rupert Betheras 1st goal. Damn that would be close to my favourite game ive ever attended.

I am so Happy we can pay tribute to Licca, a real gutsy and hard-working player whom I had great respect for. It would be great to have Bucks and Jimmy join him tonight.

I can still remember him crying on Malthouse's shoulder after the first Grand Final loss - such a touching moment and remains clear in my mind, i will never forget.

He was a gutsy & highly respected player. Not the quickest or most skilful, but always gave 100% & never gave up. He deserves his lap of honour & I'm glad he's staying on with the administration of the club.
