When I first went to the footy, the for-and-against against the Saints was something of the order of 155-30. Their greatest winning margin against us to that stage was five goals. Now being their whipping boys, particularly in an era when I despise them, is not something which sits well with me, and it will be very sweet when we finally beat them again.
The story is the same every week. We'll lose in the ruck, but have to overcome that to win the stoppages. St Kilda's defence is far from fantastic, so that should help our forwards. Waite usually handles Riewoldt fairly well. For the first time in a while, we're starting to match up fairly well on the Saints. The question will be: will we be able to move the ball effectively with the Saints choking up the game and slowing it down to a snooze like they always do. We should play wide around the boundary lines, and try to contrive as many stoppages through boundary throwins as we can, as the Saints tedious gameplan will mean stoppages are an even bigger advantage than rebounds for us than usual.
