They haven't let me down as a supporter.
Infact I'm happy with the performance of the Blues this year. That doesn't mean I have low standards either. From where the Blues have been to where we are now is a huge improvement. Developing a young list takes time. We have a very young side.
A POSTIVE NOTE:
Blues are at least showing that there some fighting sprit there - shown in come backs against Essendon & Port. A better performance over 4 quarters.
Those early goals were costly at the start of last weeks game.
Essendon have the wood over us sometimes - just like the Blues will always fire up against the Pies. Even when we were down the bottom of the ladder. It's the rivalry.
What I would like to see is not just one goal kicking option all the time with Fevola.

Blues Supporters should never get their hopes up. We don't want to be like Collingwood supporters now do we. They seem to make finals and go out in straight sets. Where as blues supporters haven't seen finals for 7 years so when we do play in finals it'll be like a huge treat. In 1- 2 years time we can get our hopes up cause the smell of finals is not far away.
I hope we can upset the tigers this week. GOO BLUESS.

that was very embarassing losing to essendon who are 13th on the ladder. i think the arrogance came back abit 2 much u reckon. need to work on the clangers nd to find someone else up forward apart from fev. chuck kreuzer up there nd leave cloke in the ruck with hampson backing him up. hopefully we can beat the tiges this week!

I agree that it is the clangers that are letting us down at the moment.

I think Kruezer and Hampson in the ruck with Cloke forward. Cloke doesn't have the same vertical leap that Freddy and the Hampster have. If they can jump higher they have a better chance at winning the ball, regardless of the skill of the opposition ruckman.

Kruezer beat Hille in just about every contest in the middle, and if Hampson takes the ruck rover role his stronger body would do well.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Do you think they'll get the 90000+ that they want at the game for the Richmond centenary game???

theyt want 100,000 to the game 1,000 per year (good luck). I think Cloke is beter suited as an around the ground ruckman. He is to short and cant jump high enough to ruck but he gets about 15 touches and 7 marks a game which is very important. Kruezer can play CHF and ruck while Hampson takes most of the ruck duties.

Fair call.

I think today highlighted the one-dimensionality of our team - and I'm NOT talking about Fev-centricity. I'm talking about the fact that, for the whole season, we have thrived on winning at stoppages and scoring goals from them, while we otherwise weather the storm coming from the opposition's rebound. Four times this year, we have seen that if we lose at stoppages, we'll concede six goals and struggle to score: third quarter vs St Kilda, first quarter vs Brisbane, most of the game (but particularly the third) against Geelong, and most of today, particularly the first quarter.

That having been said, not until Essendon drew 18 points in front for the second time did I ever think we were out of the contest. even 36 points down in the third quarter, I knew that if we could regain the ascendancy at the stoppages, we were a six-goal better team than Essendon in the time remaining.

It helped when Kreuzer got on top in the ruck in the final quarter - and Essendon's scoring goals in the last directly corresponded with Kreuzer being replaced with Cloke. I cannot help but wonder whether Hampson would have been a better match-up, but Ratten addressed that in his press conference and seemed confident that dropping him was the right thing to do.

Judd getting concussed didn't help, and they seemed to underuse Bentick, particularly early, in the middle.

I total agree with you. We dont know how to stop a wave of goals being kicked on us when we are playing bad without playing tempo footy. To often 3 goals turns into 6 which happened twice during the game. The time in the last quarter was different as the game was over by the time it was 3 goals but in the first quarter if we were able to slow their flow of goals and get one more ourselves instead of doing down by 6 goals for the term it could have been 4 and given us time to hit the lead in the third and hold it for the forth which would have been easyer than being 4 down and making up a total in the last.

This was also the first game all year that when the ball was bombed to a one-on-one in essendons fifty i was scared. Every game so far this year i trusted our boys to beat their direct oponent but not this time.

Kreuzer really pissed me off in the last quarter, I dont know if anyone seen it, but at a ruck contest in the centre he didn't jump for the ball, basically allowing *insert essendon ruckman here* to tap it to advantage and set up an easy goal that more or less sealed our fate. And Jamison pretty much gave away a goal in the last quarter, I know there youngsters and I shouldn't be this hard on them, but everyone, 1st year player or 10th, is expected not to make them easy mistakes when the game is on the line.

That incident with kreuzer really got to me at the time, crucial time in the game, if we hadve got the centre clearance we probably wouldve gone down and got another goal which (i think) wouldve brought the margin back to 6 points again but kreuzer decided not to jump thinking laycock or hillle would miss the ball but they didnt, essendons midfield grabbed the tap out like they had been doing all day and sealed the win. No hard feelings on kreuze, he had a good day, just little things like that can change a match. The worst part was when carrazzo put us in front and gibbs missed the next goal, i have a feeling if he hadve put it through it wouldve been us that went on to win by 30 points not them.

I was there Robert.

He missed "sharking" the ball by about 5 cm.

If he pulled it off you would be praising him, but he didn't.

Get over it!

exactly... I was there too. We can't rely on our first year number 1 draft pick to get us out of a hole like he did against Port.

I also agree with Rattens assessment after the game. We need to forget about finals and top 8 and all that stuff... Our philosophy all season has been to play the kids and concerntrate on playing competitive footy. If we put all our effort towards winning each contest we will win games... simple. It has worked so far this season and it will continue to work.

to robert, you don't have to jump in a ruck contest, he can also rove the ball!!
