Blues v Pies
What are our chances this week? What do we need to focus on and who needs to fire to get us another win? Also which changes, ins and outs?

i agree with shannon i recs they will pay too much attention to Kruez and Fev..... which will mean fish can bag a couple.... who will play on eddie Bets

To prob with saying that they will put attention on Fev and Kruez is that that happens every week and we still dont go to him unless he leads up to the wing. If he can find space and stay closer to goals then he might kick a bag but i like him leading onto the wing as it frees up space and takes away a man from Fev and co.
Shannon (Blues supporter), 12 Jun 2008 19:56 hide comment
i'd look out for fish! im waiting for a bag from him and this could be the week. he is a great 3rd tall and he has been the number 2 but collingwood will look out for fev and kreuzer so he might slip under the radar!

With Jamo back and Rocca out i feel that we have a leg up down back. The battle will be in the middle and the form that Judd, Murphy and the rest are in we've got a great chance.

Did anyone see the Blues singing the song in the rooms after last weeks match? How funny was Setanta! He was so excited he started doing an Irish jig during the song!

The way the foward lines going atm i think we should put Gibbs or Grigg on Heath Shaw as a defencive stopper in out foward line. If we can stop hit run the ball will stay in our foward line more and give our little guys more chances to score.

I think we're facing Collingwood at exactly the right time - no Rocca, Cloke likely to miss etc. The Blue Baggers will be feeling pretty good too, after that amazing come from behind victory. If they show the passion and heart they did in the wet on Sunday, they're in with a shot. I think Wiggins needs to be dropped though - he turns the ball over too consistently for my liking. He should go in the end of year clean out.

Turns the ball over too consistently? Absolute drivel, Naomi. Wiggins was the only Carlton player with 100% disposal efficiency against Port Adelaide. He and Hampson were the only two players with 100% disposal efficiency against Fremantle. He was above team average against both Geelong and West Coast, but below against Brisbane.

In our already thin forward-line, which the first three quarters against Port again highlighted to be our biggest deficiency, we cannot weaken it further by dropping Wiggins, who has performed serviceably since return.

Beginning to think we weren't watching the same match! I saw Wiggins give up the ball several times to an opponent, something he does week in, week out.

Murphy on Thomas, and we just need to find one of our GUN players for Didak and hope it does not come down to a shootout

Gibbs on Didak?

I almost hope not but I think you have it right. Would love to see Gibbs have a free role one day but probably not this week. He did a great job on Sunday. Just hope he is still loving the footy

He is still very young and the best way he can learn is to play on guys who can win a match off their own boot... I am sure he is enjoying his footy... especially now we are winning!
Michael from Narre Warren (Blues supporter), 11 Jun 2008 9:00 hide comment
We need to stop Didak and also Dale Thomas. Close them down and we will win.

you have all forgotton one thing about collingwood. WE always lift for these games and 2 SHUT DOWN A MAN HEATH SHAW, he is there drive from half back keep him quiet and most of there run stops which in turn will give us time to get back and man up in there forward line
Mark from Melbourne (Blues supporter), 10 Jun 2008 16:41 hide comment
How good was last Sunday. It will be very different this week as Collingwood will show a lot more respect to the Old Dark Navy ( which reminds me, we better not be wearing that insipid white jumper) Blues. Collingwood must win to remain a top 4 prospect. This might just put them under enough pressure to be scared of losing and our boys can tighten the noose. Go Baggers!!!

I heard Eddie a couple of weeks back say that Collingwood would always wear its reverse strip against Carlton.
Aaron from Perth (Blues supporter), 10 Jun 2008 20:25 hide comment
I think Ratt's shold run out the tape of the last game. The boys are more than capable of winning this game. Collingwood are tired and the pies have some stars out. Shutting down those smaller players of Collingwood like Didak, Davis, Medhurst, Swan & Thomas will go a long way to getting the win. Go boys!!!!!
Tarrant from Melbourne (Blues supporter), 10 Jun 2008 14:54 hide comment
Last time we played Collingwood, we beat them with a level of midfield pressure that we hadn't shown since the start of that 24-game 100+ points against streak. We have the advantage in the ruck, because Collingwood is weak in that area, and we should do resonably well from stoppages because we always do. The biggest issue is the absence of Bower and Jamison, since they slaughtered Travis Cloke and Medhurst respectively last time (although Bower is less of a loss if Cloke is out as Naomi suggest).

Fev kicked 7 too. That could make a difference

I love the fact I picked them to beat Port. Had more faith than a lot of people.
Couldn 't stop watching the game even when they were trailing by more than 30pts.

Every chance in the world. They are on the come back FINALLY.
Confidence is building. Love It!!
Tania (Blues supporter), 10 Jun 2008 13:13 hide comment
Gonna be tough but I think we will get up on Sunday. The pies are going to be tired and we will have our confidence up.. As long as the boys apply pressure and don't depend on Fev too much.
Go Blues... It's gonna be a ripper of a game, can't wait!!!!

I think Fev can kick a bag but we need others to also pop up and kick 2's and 3's. Our midfield is better, our backlines are both lacking, and both forward lines are lean. I think it will come down to pressure on the ball carrier and going in hard at the ball. Lets see how many hard ball gets Juddy can get... he is leading the league! Hopefully Jamieson is back as he will be great against Cloke.

Bower played on Cloke last time. Jamison played on Medhurst, and is better suited to Medhurst. Both men won those battles comprehensively. I'd expect Setanta and Waite to shuffle time against Rocca and Cloke, if both play.

Rocca wont play. Hes got an ankle injury and Matlhouse has said that hes out indefinatly. They wont ruch him and will wait untill hes fully fit. Cloke might get weeks as he hit Warnock in the first half and drew blood above his eye.

Come on Blues, let's do as we did earlier in season against Pies, we were awesome on Sunday in final quarter, we can win. If ever we are going to put in a big effort, it is against those feral pies. GO BLUES!!
