What a number one draft pick!
Does anyone think that Marc Murphy is the best number 1 draft pick ever?

Marc Murphy is a dead set gun. However I think he is got Joel Selwood or Daniel Kerr syndrome. He doesn't pick up a big tag, as people catch on and do tage him it will be interesting to see if he is still as good

He had the main tag last year because Stevens was injured, and i think he still averaged about 20 posesstions. That was only in his second year of AFL football as well.

That is the difference between this year and last. Last year he copped the big tag every week as we didn't have Judd and Stevens. He was put under that pressure last year and this year he has been released as the big tags go to them. That is not going to change so unless they get injured Murphy should be allowed a free reign which will be great.

Captaincy does seem likely for the future. He has that same on-field presence as Judd and he does the team things. They're four years apart on age, and since players rarely seem to stay captain until retirement anymore (unless, like at Melbourne, there's nobody suitable to give it to), you'd expect Murphy to get the nod for a few years.

He definately helped that thought tonight against Port. He was fantastic the whole game offensively and defensively

Buckley wasn't a #1 selection - he was a zone-selection to Brisbane.

I think he fits the mould of a Buckley/Judd type of player, so the potential exists. Tough to make those sorts of judgements so early, though.

Even though I hate him Nathan Buckley would have to be.

I think he has been great this year as he is probably number 3 to be tagged. Whereas in his first few years he got tagged all of the time, which I think has helped him as a player, but now he is released because of Judd and Stevens.
