Carlton Vs Geelong
Bad week to play Geelong considering their loss against Collingwood. Hopefully we can apply similar pressure like the Pies did but at the Dome I think they will touch us up a bit. I hope I am so wrong.

Thoughts on this one? Changes?

Geelong are also carrying a few injuries (admittedly not serious) but there are definately some problems injury/fatigue wise in their side, one of 2 things will happen next week, geelong will either drop the bundle like they have done so many times in the past or they will come back with a vengaence, bigger better and stronger than they were, i'm really hoping that they do fall in a heap but in all honestly i think it will be a loss in excess of 6 goals for us

its better being in a position were we are the underdog. i dont mind this situation at all. edwards played well last week. cloke will prbably come back in the ruck, waite might not be out there this weekend. but givin a few new guys a chance wont hurt us. next week we will probably have a new player in a favourites. someone we didnt expect. these gaes are a chance for our young guys to shine. we'll put up a fight. i think the cats slump will be more than one week. were not a threat to them. they'll be right by the time they play hawks and pound them mouthy pricks. have faith boys and girls. watch for signs of the future carlton premiership side.

we also need to take into account BACKLINE... waite (suspended) jamieson (INJURED) thornton (BACK FROM INJURY) WALKER ( INJURED) BANNISTER(INJURED) HOULIHAN(INJURED)... HOW can we expect to be competitive against the good sides with no backline... WALKER WE BE A BIG INCLUSION when he comes back.. just be patient supporters all looking gd for next year and beyond..

I think we all will except the fact that Geelong are a much better side than they were last friday night.. Collingwood couldn't have been any better. I think we are in for a very large hiding this week especially at telstra dome where we struggle to win games. We need to change focus from fevola to other options to have any chance of getting close otherwise they will just run the ball out of backline and thru midfield GOAL.... im predicting 60pt loss or if we do everything right 30-40pt loss... all the better experience for next year.. GO BLUES... if we win i wont go to work... I WILL BE STILL CELEBRATING MONDAY

im really looking foward to this game. I dont expect to win but i expect a challange and alot of effort from the boys. I think this game will show how much we have learnt from last year. If we can run with them for most of the game i will be happy but if we get run over i will be terably disapointed.

Interesting match-up indeed. Geelong will no doubt be on the rebound and hurting from getting their pants pulled down by Collingwood.. Losing Waite to suspension doesn't help either and I doubt the board will defend the charge.
Our midfield will hold the key and will have to just play man on man footy. As Mal touched on, if we turn the ball over easily, Geelong are silky and will make us pay big time. Thornton should return after being ruled out late against Freo and maybe Jamison can come through a week earlier than expected.
In all, with blue blood coursing through my veins, I'd be happy if we could get within 15 points of the Cats.
To win would be absolutely incredible but I think the Cats might just get us here.

Problem for us is that we tend to go out wide whilst Geelong always bring through corridor so if we turn ball over goodnight.

I am expecting Geelong to bounce back pretty hard after last week. However the boys are capable of playing the same game as Collingwood did last week. If we can pressure their defense by kicking it in to 1 on 1's and get Scarlet playing upfeild. Perhaps we can pressure them a bit

This will be a massive test for us. If we win this one i reckon our confidence will sky rocket to the finals. Our midfield has to play tighter than last week and be more accurate going forward.

it's all about the pressure. their forward-line is not the sort of thing that can be readily matched up my anyone, let alone our injury ravaged D. So applying midfield pressure will be key. We should have the advantage in the ruck - if Bryan was beating Blake, then Hammo should smash him. Whether we can convert that into wins at the clearances will be important.

As much as i want to believe that we have a chance against Geelong, I feel we havnt come that far yet and it showed in the game against Brisbane, and we were quite evenly matched on wins and points etc.I think we'll cop a floggin from them, not forgetting that they are prem's and only lost one game this year. We still have several deficiencies in our game plan that i feel Geelong will take full advantage of, especially coming off a loss to the pies. But dont get me wrong.... Id love to see the baggers knock em off but im predicting a 20-30 point loss. Gee i hope im wrong too, Go the blues.
