why is cain ackland playing at this level.?
Ive seen some useless footballers in my time but cain is cutting the cake. maybe we should give edwards pfeiffer and some of the younger guys a chance to show what there made of... cain is a waste of space.

id have to agree with all of u guys. i think its about time we picked apart our team and actually said 'who is gonna help us win a premiership'? cause ackland definitaly wont. no shepards! hahaha how true is that comment. imagine if every single player laid five shepards a game. its not that hard. that would mean 100 shepards a game. and at least a more competitive outfit. we have four games in a row freo, geelong, essendon and collingwood. and i honestly dont think we can win any of them unless we start protecting the ball carrier. not givin off **** passes and running out four quarters. it would be nice to have the feeling that carlton were gonna be competitive against any team, cant feel that happening at the moment unless things change and we get rid of a couple of passangers.

hey Guys,
Firstly we should find out who signed this tool for 3 years and give him the flick if he's still there. He actually got beaten in the VFL the other week by a nobody. Might as well play Hampson as we are going to get beaten in rucks anyway, at least his learning curve will be fast tracked by playing on the best. We also do not know what a shepard is

Hammo tore the Roosters a new one in the Ants on Sunday. Near-to-certain selection next week - and probably the only bloke who can jump high enough against Sandilands.

well well..... glad we see the light
i dont want to push too many buttons, but a couple of players do worry me. i dont know if they actually want to be there. how many games do they need to play before kickin to a player whos not gonna get smashed or spoilt.
not enough running protecting the man, just players there for number one. it has made a bit of difference with judd there. hes so smart with his decision making. and protects the ball carrier, doesnt give off hospital passes. what was hadley doing last night? betts didnt even get named ion the best players and he was always having a go. same with simpson. they were in the the best players.
sick of the ball watching, if i was trainin four five times a week. id be able to run out four qaurters, these guys are strugglin in the second qaurter. ridiculous. why wait for some inspirational speech from the caoch to get back in the game... its like an old **** car that takes forever to warm up. they start playin after forty minutes,... still annoyed, they better redeem themselves against freo and start standin up for each other....

hes far to lazy. There was one time what his man took a mark and he just watched him do it. He then was told be another player to go to the next contest while he stood the mark simply because Aucklnad is taller and can provide an option to creat a contest. Instead of running to the next contest he just stood around and walked into space while a ball was kicked to the next contest.

We need to develope young guys such as Hampson rather than playing crap like Auckland.

Just got home from the game and even though I agree with you about Ackland it was not the reason we lost the game. There were a few players who put in a shocker tonight and I think Rats made a couple of bad coaching errors. If we are going to have a spare man in defence make it someone who will do something. Bryce Gibbs was useless in this role. It worked better when Waite did it later in the game as at least he could take a mark or run in front of the leading forward. He plays this role much better than having to stick to someone like Brown, he is better floating. I don't feel that bad about tonights game as we really didn't play well and we would have been beaten by 100 points if we were in the same position last year. At lease they stuck it out. Well done to Fev and Stevo, shame we couldn't win for them. Abd also a great game from Scotland and Murphy (other than his disposal).

Look, my opinions on Ackland have been made well-known on other posts. I was bemused when he was selected, and he was one of the reasons why I recommended friends tip against Carlton this week. The fact is that, while he rucked better than Kreuzer today, he is completely useless the moment the ruck contest is over, and you can't afford to do that in the modern game. He applies no pressure, he turned the ball over to gift Brisbane two goals, and failed to provide any options going forward that a monkey couldn't be trained to emulate. All six of our other ruck options (Cloke, Hampson, Kreuzer, Setanta and Aisake O'hAilpin, and rookie Sam Jacobs) are better options than Ackland, and due to that high ruck contingent, it is clear that Ackland has no long-term future with the club; furthermore, it has always been clear to all but the stupidest of Carlton fans that we are still rebuilding, and that developing the youth, not making the finals, is the point of this season. Overall, it was probably the worst decision I've seen at a selection table since the ACB said "no, I didn't like that Brad Hodge double-century; let's take that hack Damien Martyn to South Africa instead."

But we can't make Cain Ackland a scapegoat for a poor performance. While his skills were poor and was physically incapable of applying midfield pressure, he had plenty of friends on both counts. It was the worst midfield pressure since the Essendon game, and Ratts must do what he did before the Collingwood game to get them back to applying that pressure - which will be even more important if Jamison's injury will lead to time on the sidelines.

i just got home from the game and am asking exactly the same question why he is even on the list is beyond me I said it last year and i will say it again Cameron Cloke is very important to our side he has reasonable disposal but always offers a contest Acland poor disposal and doesnt look like he wants to be there any other thoughts on this
