anyone know whats goin on with Cain Acklan?
I believe he hasn't played a game this year so far? How is he travelling with the Bull Ants?

Cain Ackland could possibly be the worst player in the AFL. (just behind Raf Clarke) He got thrashed in the ruck against Tassie by a nobody and some genius at Carlton signed him for three years. WTF

Well, I guess I have to eat my words. But I agree with Ryan - I was very disappointed to see him in the team, and used his selection (and T-Bird's absence) to recommend that friends tip against Carlton this week.

when i read that he was playin i disappointed. he's lanky, doesnt move the ball well. and thats makes him a waist of space. get hampson in there, he looks ready for it.

bad news about Cain Acklan. Hes bean named in the team to play Brissy. Dont know why. Hampson is young and promassing where as Ackland is older and a dud. Get him out of our team sooner rather than later i say.

That's very interesting. I thought maybe he was out injured or something but to be honest i wanst really happy with his performance last year.

I agree with your top 3 ruckman and its more important to concentrate and develope those blokes. Do You really think that Aisake will be hanging around Carlton much longer??

I'm not sure. To be honest, I haven't been going to Bullants games much recently, so it's tough to say. Six ruckmen is obviously too many for one list, so one suspects he'll have to either get really good at it, or good elsewhere, otherwise there may not be a place for him.

Cain Ackland will never play again. The reality with Cain Ackland is that he is our seventh string ruckman. Our ruck stocks, as I see them ordered today, are:

1. Cameron Cloke
2. Matthew Kreuzer
3. Shaun Hampson
4. Setanta O'hAilpin
5. Aisake O'hAilpin
6. Sam Jacobs (rookie)
7. Cain Ackland

Yes, I legitimately believe that they would elevate Sam Jacobs to the senior list before selecting Cain Ackland, and he will be out the door at season's end without another senior game.

And this is a good thing. Since the late days of Parkin, we've had recycled ruckmen, usually old, exclusively; Mark Porter was the last ruckman we blooded ourselves. Amongst them:
1. Corey McKernan - success for one year
2. Barnaby French - very capable; probably our only other success, particularly since we traded a draft pick that we would shortly afterwards have been stripped of
3. Dylan McLaren - failure
4. Trent Hotton - dodgy back-up ruckman, not very good elsewhere
5. Ricky Mott - two games, one of which was St Kilda putting 31 goals on the board.
6. Lindsay Smith - same year as McKernan. I think he was a ruckman.
7. Chris Bryan (from Frankston) - complete failure as ruckman; jumped a full second early almost every bloody time.
We also pursued Trent Knobel but Richmond got him, and picked up failure Callan Beasy and handy-but-better-as-a-forward Adrian Deluca in the national draft.

Now we have five young ruckmen that we're developing ourselves, and Cloke who is still reasonably young and may end up bucking the recycled trend. Thank God for that.

I think the O'hAilpin boys are better fitted in other positions. I agree with you on Jacobs he is a good player for the bullants and might manage some kind of a senior career.

With Auckland we unfortunatly signed him for the 3 year deal so he will still be on our list and taking up salary cap space next year.

With the past ruckmen you must remember that before the 7 you listed we had Matthew Allen and Justen Madden. Who were both Carlton blooded. Even though Madden was at Essendon before we made him who he was Esseondon cant take any credit for him.

I agree that Setanta probably does fit better elsewhere, but the Richmond game selections clearly show that he is currently the fourth string ruckman.

I believe Ackland's contract was a two-year deal with a third year option.

No doubt we did a very good job with ruckmen through the 1990s.

Who cares, biggest body on our list and shows the least amount of grit, most useless player to ever don the navy blue jumper.
Just another one of Pagans **** ups.
