Carlton Supporters
I went to the Saints game last night and I was shocked to hear some of the thought of my fellow Carlton supporters. The first quarter was great and showed everyone what can and will happen in the near future but in the second half it seamed that everyone that I was sitting near turned against their own team. I admit I was disappointed but I didn’t yell at players when they stuffed up. The worst one was a bloke that kept yelling out “that’s right, kick it down the wing, the goals are that way.” Every time we had the ball on the half back flank. Most people have to remember that the Saints were flooding so it made it hard for us to get into the forward 50 so going down the wing and crossing the ball was all we could do.

After the game I overheard some Saints fans trying to cheer up some Carlton fans by saying things like “Fevola tried he was just beaten, its not his fault, he’ll get better.”

Its crap that our own supporters turn when things are getting tough. We have got to stay strong and look into the future. Ignore our critics and opposition fans because most of the time they are to self centred or just don’t know what’s going on in our great footy club.

Stay confident Blues success is just around to corner.

Just think about how many games most of the guys have played.

Jamo....our FB has only played 7 games.
Grigg...played 7.
Hampo 3
Cloke 29
GIbbs 24
Murph 37
Bower 14
Edwards 2

All these guys have huge expectation on there shoulders...they have to come in and play a role straight away, get used to the pace of game and can not afford to make mistakes. Big ask!!

If you have a look at our young players and compare them to Collingwoods, its alot different.

Collingswood's young players get to come into a side where they had a really good core of senior players. Last year the likes of Pendalbury,Thomas and Goldsack were able to play in a team with...

Buckley 200+ games
Clement
Burns 200+
Rocca 200+
Holland, Didak, Fraser, Prestigiacomo, Lockyer all 150+.

None of young guys get to do this, our core is Fev, Stevo, Houla, Scotland and Judd 100 - 140 games, except Stevo. Then there is Fisher, Waite, Carrazzo and Simmo still 2 seassons away from 100 games.

Our young players have to be given time to learn, and we just gotta wait it out. It will turn....and when it does, we will be at the top for awhile, but for now, just bite the lip and watch the growth.

but my point is that to many Carlton supporters go to games and yell crap at our own players. no matter how bad we play i go to the game and i can tell you now i will go to every melbourne game this year like i did that year.

yes we are along way off the 8 but i can see the improvment from last year already. im confident and excited for the future and loosing now dosnt bother me or hurt me as much as other carlton supporters.

you of my mates said to me on monday that if it wasnt for melbourne he would be dipresed cos atleast there worse than us. i told him that he was a crap supporter and followed by giving him about 15-20 positives from the game all to which he reply with about 5 negatives.

there is a positive that comes out of every game that carlton plays now all you have to do is stay confident and look into the future which im doing.

I do agree with what your saying. there is no need for supporters to abuse our players, we know they are trying hard. I also get frustrated when other teams like collingwood etc bring young players in and they are ready made as unlike us eg bryce gibbs etc they are taking a long time to prosper.. I also understand in a good side our players to may be like them.. I HOPE AND PRAY WE BEAT ESSENDON THIS WEEK> they were talking top 4-8 until getting smashed last week and brought back to reality...GO BLUES !!

I truely agree with everything that you've said. But do you reckon Fev will still be with the blues next year? It just appears that at times he cbf. Although i'm a Fan of Fev, lately it seems that he lets our team down. but yeah thats another topic. Hopefuly round 3 becomes our 1st win of the season. Imagine beatinig Essen, pies and Demons. stading 3-2 by round6! pwoaah! would be awesome!!lol

as much as i dont like loosing as often as we are i feel that we are still playing better than last year. last year we would stay close to teams then fade away when out B grade midfielders come on. this year we are jumping teams and then loosing when our B grade midfielders come on.

Next year we will jump teams using our A graders and then when out B graders come on they will keep the lead without loosing it.

i can find more positives from the saints game than negatives the most obvious was the defence that didnt get pushed aside the way is has been and it will only get better when Jamison returns.

Stay confident Blues. Im getting excited for the bomers game.

i also went to the Saints game on Saturday night and also heard pretty much the same thing from other blues supporters. In a way i don't blame some of them i think it is more frustration than anything else. I have to admit that for the last 3 years i havent been to a carlton game feeling confident for a win. As much as i tried not think that,it's really hard.

But yes i agree that 'its crap' that (some of) our own supporters are gettig tough and feral at our players. But at the end of the day its all about having faith in our players and yes stay condident.

People have to understand that we are goin through a cycle like all other teams have. We were once a champion team we reached our peak and slowly through time we hit rock bottom, now we are on our way up and heading for a premiership sometime in the near future. Go Blues!!!!

All teams have some bitter old supporters who can't let go of the fact that the game has evolved and they haven't.
