yeah, sounds like he's going okay

I hope he turns out okay. He was always a little patchy at Melbourne, but at his best he was really good. But you have to ask why did Melbourne want to trade him? Are his best years behind him?

I think it was a real loss losing Hadley, and at this point I'm not sure whether our trading for this year was as good as other years. But I do have a lot of faith in the football drafters for Brisbane who usually draft very intelligently

Travis Johnstone will slot perfectly into the Lions line-up....We did fantastic out of that deal!

I reckon he'll be the recruit of the year. Can also play as a half back.

Should fit in beautifully at the lions. As opposed to in Melbourne where he was their first or second choice midfielder, with the lions he'll be about 5th or 6th choice behind Black, Power, Lappin, Adcock and won't be getting tagged as much and will have heaps more freedom to use his skills. Throw Riscitelli, Knotting, Shermin, Selwood and maybe Hooper in there and suddenly we're looking to have one of the best midfields in the game!

melbournes loss our most great gain for this season. Trav, i wish you all the luck and sucsess for 2008 with our great club, wecome to the brisy lions mate..
Glynn from Perth (Lions supporter), 21 Jan 2008 10:07 hide comment
He'll be a great help in the midfield as lappin will probaly be used more up forward than running the ground.

It could go either way...Be a waste of a draft pick on a player who has lost his drive, or a recruiting coup.

I'm going for the former. The move should be good to clear out the cobwebs. Players of his quality rarely have two bad years in a row. I'd be looking at his form from about round 5/6 on to see if it was a good decision.

The fact he is an old Fitzroy supporter will hopefully make the transition easier.

Sorry. Of course that should read I'm going for the Latter, not former. I think it was a good deal for both clubs.

Johnstone's disposal by foot is up there with the best of them.

I heard that David Neitz's eyes used to light up whenever he saw Johnstone with the ball as he would more than likely be hit laces out on the chest with a pinpoint pass.

I'm sure Browny will appreciate his skills greatly.

Not really sure why the Demons let him go to be honest. Maybe had something to do with his application level or attitude maybe?
