im not a big fan of shirley either. but in his defence he has been playing with a calf injury. if u ask me i think we should play dangerfield, he has been tearing it up in his TAC cup team. kicked 8.3 in 3 quarters at full forward. played on the ball in the other quarter n racked up 14 disposals.

Agree if hes injured they should play someone fit, especially such a vital role that he plays.

Well Doughty started off poor, but has picked his game up over the past 4 or so games, so have to disagree with you there.

Shirley..I think hes had 1-2 good games so far this season, but rest pretty average.
But again theres a lot worse than these 2 in the side.

Doughty seems to be improving a little.

Hmm this discussion has certainly shut down after Shirley's job on Judd hasn't it. Doughty's having a career best year also. That said I thought both were lucky to stay ahead of Torney, but hey they're making the most of that chance. Good luck to them.

Rob Shirley is a top blocking player learn to view the game
Scott from Millicent (Crows supporter), 21 Apr 2008 23:26 hide comment
I have to say i disagree a bit. Doughty played a great game against the dockers. 28 touches is a pretty good effort and he hasn't played that bad all season in the midfield and off half-back, he has deserved his spot in the team in my opinion. However Shirley is on the fringe. If he gets back in the team, he must make the most of his opportunity or else i think it may be his last year a west lakes. CARN THE CROWS!

Your right. I guess that tells you something, he obviously isnt doing much because i havent really noticed him. He may lose his spot when Reilly returns from his injury
Dave from Adelaide (Crows supporter), 13 Apr 2008 17:00 hide comment
Doughty was good for the crows against the hawks. Its shirley thats been ordinary for about a year. He no longer can shut players down, though he is still is given ago every week. Time for him to go back to the eagles.
Dave from Adelaide (Crows supporter), 11 Apr 2008 18:32 hide comment
I agree shirley and doughty always are given a game before others because they are established players. I KNOW YOU NEED A TAGGER BUT VAN BERLO SHOULD BE THE MAN WHILE MASSIE COULD ALSO DO A JOB THERE AND IN THE BACKLINE
John from Ballarat (Crows supporter), 3 Apr 2008 17:54 hide comment
Even Knights is young and hasnt realy been pulling his weight in the side
John from Ballarat (Crows supporter), 3 Apr 2008 17:52 hide comment
Doughty is crap, but Shirley I dont know! He has his good games and his bad ones, too inconsistant, I think get rid of Doughty and bring in Massie full time, then exchange Shirley for Bode, we gotta bring Bode back, I miss him in the side, he was accurate in front of the sticks, hard running and I always liked watching him play, even if not Bode, what about Sellars, he is young but showed some promise, I see a lot of Jonathon Brown and Lance Franklin in the way he plays, he has a lot of future, maybe a bit young, but definantly give him a go. We have a young side as it is, with Mackay, Porpyzia, Vince, Van Berlo, Tippet, Griffen and Symes in particular! Whats wrong with having another option for up forward on the bench or even a midfielder like Bryce Campbell! We still have some young talent which would fit in if required. Plus with Trent Henschell back in a couple of weeks, no harm in trying Sellars out for a week or 2!

yeah but taggers arent meant to rack up the possies!
in saying that though, brad johnson kick 3 goals on shirley in the last qtr to win the game haha

bottom line: both ****

my god! I completely agree.. in particular Doughty.. he makes some bloody awful mistake every damned game! I miss Pez
Kaeliff (Crows supporter), 31 Mar 2008 23:00 hide comment
doughty is alright, every team needs a tagger and he and Shirley is wat we have. I got a feeling we mite give him the chop at the end of the year but he is a useful player. I am glad we got rid of Hart... he was a legend but to old... and Torney was in a backline which was already full of stars
Tom from Whyalla (Crows supporter), 26 Mar 2008 19:59 hide comment
doughty has to go, torney and hart should have stayed
Jon from Perth (Crows supporter), 26 Mar 2008 17:39 hide comment
Fair enough - if they get rid of the likes of Torney and Perrie - shouldnt doughty and shirley also get the arse? The only thing I can think of is they still had a year on their contracts to go.
