Kerr to St Kilda
This is not 100% backable but I heard that West Coast want Dal Santo and our first round draft pick for Kerr. Personally I think Kerr would do us great big time maybe this is what the Saints need a hard nut like Kerr. Any thoughts?

whould be surprised for a kerr, kosi and a draft pick trade, here is something i posted on the st.kilda discussion board ok let me set the scene for you. well you know how st.kilda had a delayed mad monday, ok i was on my way down to ackland st., when i saw goddard, rooey and adam S get out of a car and go into the st.kilda inn, at around 2 pm. unfortunatly i am of too young a age to enter the st.kilda inn without supervision so i called up my mum and her boyfriend, and they said "we'll go and pop in later tonight to see if they are still there, if they are we'll stay a while, ok?" i said "ok". we went there around 7ish that night, the inn was a buzz with many st.kilda supporter's who must have seen them or herd about it too. at this stage many of the st.kilda players were intoxicated, but not many people were aproaching them, sure we would say hello when they came to the bar and strike up a little conversation, but nothing much. anyway here's where the story get's interesting, I went to the toilet to well you know go to the toilet. When all of a sudden i thought the lights were going out, no it was just mt.kosi himself blocking the lights, anyway we're at the urinial when he said" so which team you go for" i said "saints" he said"oh yer, you a member?" "yes"i said he said"im sorry i couldn't do it for you this year" "na dont worry, there's only been one is our whole histroy so im guessing it's hard to get" i said with a little chuckle at the end, knowing what i said was obivious. he said "thanks but it seems im going to west coast anyway".

I am willing for the Saints to get Kerr now, just so you can learn that even with picking up the best midfielder around the Saints are still not nearly good enough to challenge the dominant sides. Then next year you'll realise you've got to rebuild from the ground up. But it'll be too late and you'll still not have got rid of Gherig, Kosi and Dal Santo.

about a week or so ago i was reading an article in the paper about the whole kerr getting traded. and what it said is pretty much that teams have all got their eyes on other players and wont be able to afford kerr. and one comment was that st.kilda wont be able to afford kerr and that they have never really been able too afford big name players and that they dont have any trades that they can afford to give away that west coast will even consider taking.

Some of the Saints fans on here are dreaming if they think there would be a direct trade for Kerr. I had a discussion with two of my Geelong mates earlier this year when Kerr was initially floated as a possible trade. After careful consideration of the list strengths and weaknesses, salary cap etc. I decided that if we wanted Kerr we would have to direct trade Bartel, they thought I was crazy, but if you take all of those things into account, that's when you see how much good players are actually worth. This is how good Kerr is, if you want big you need to trade big, the only player you have that could be a direct trade would be Riewoldt, but that ain't gonna happen. I still think Collingwood should go a direct trade, Kerr for Didak, but unfortunately for Collingwood I think they have decided to keep him, when he f'ucks up again, and he will, there will be a lot of pressure on the AFL to launch an investigation into Collingwood's off field antics, kind of like what happened at WCE. Then I will truly feel sorry for Collingwood, no club should have to endure that.

Matt, you never put your opinion on the line, you just snipe other people for their opinions, so your comment means zero. Why don't you grow a pair and tell people what you really think about football.

i have put plenty of opinions forward. maybe u should read some posts a bit more. kerr would be a great pick up for stkilda. west coast should be happy picking up a player like dal santo at most for him because there not going to get someone bettr from any other club. and if u think they are going to... tell me who? who do other clubs have to offer that west coast would take for kerr?. you have to be realistic. west coast no tehre not going to get a player like reiwoldt for him... even suggesting that is stupid.

wasnt it onli 2006 wen dal santo was in liek the top 3 for the brownlow?. i think u forget that kerr is having just as much trouble braking a tag as dal santo has. and were di i suggest they were in the same league?. all i said was west coast most liekly wont get someone better... which is true, because u havent suggested any other player from another club that would be traded for kerr. dal santo is most likely the best west coast can do. why not get the best?

Matt if you bothered to read the first thread in this flame war, you would see that I suggested the only player who could be done in a direct swap at this point in time is Didak for Kerr, but Collingwood looks hell bent on keeping him, which will probably be at there peril.

i think you've really over rated Kerr Jodie! I think a straight swap kerr for stokes might be fair on geelong.... Kerr has totally gone off the rail! he can't handle a tagger, has a poor temperament and is injury prone. why on earth would you consider that a fair swap would be an All Australian, Brownlow medalist for someone who has played terrible footy and missed half the season through injury and suspension?????? He looked good when he had Judd and Cousins taking the taggers and feeding him the ball, but he's lost without them, I doubt he'd get a game at Geelong let alone take Bartel's place.... you must have missed a lot of West Coast games this season

So wouldn't he then be an excellent fit at Geelong, a team full of hard-ball winners and tag-attractors?
Jodie from Melbourne (Cats supporter), 23 Sep 2008 9:56hide comment
Injury prone?? one year with injury doesn't make you injury prone. Kerr is also All-Australian, should have won a Brownlow if not for suspension, as he has finished top 3 on 3 seperate occasions. Can't handle a tagger?? more likely WCE can't handle taggers at the moment, it's very hard, almost impossible to break a tag when everyone in the midfield is playing for themselves, nobody provided a block all year to help him, other teams that do this well don't have a problem with taggers. Terrible season this year?? He polled 8 votes from 11 games, what's terrible about that? that's more votes than any of his team-mates. As for the suspension this year, an AFL investigation was launched into tagging after that Bulldogs game, he was mauled all night and had dirty tactics used against him, and wasn't given any protection form the umpires like he should have been. So again who hasn't watched a lot of WCE games this year?

dal santo picks up easy possesions on half back, never wins the hard ball and went down from half a punch from ryan gamble earlier this season....seriously who the **** would want that on their list?? kerr may be reckless and such but atleast he has some heart. eagles need to hold on to him he is a talent just needs help from teamates with his tag...too bad michael voss isnt going to west coast anymore he would have taught him a thing or 2.

i think it would be a stupid trade..... dal santo has years left in him and kerr is 31, dal might not be our hardest player but he is definatly one of our best... i think the saints need to put there energy into getting cousins, him and gardiner will have a ball together at stkilda

Don't know what planet you've been living on but if Kerr is 31 how was he born in 1983?, that would make him 25. Dal Santo is 24 and has half the talent and work ethic of Kerr.

Andrew (Hawks supporter), 21 Sep 2008 18:23hide comment
I think the Saints would be stupid to go for that deal. Kerr is reckless and has spent most of the season suspended and the other part injured, he can't handle a tagger either, when the taggers had Judd and cousins to deal with Kerr could play his game but if someone wears him he has nothing. Dal Santo may not be the hardest nut but at least he's disciplined and has a good boot on him. I wouldn't even trade Dal Santo for Kerr straight swap let alone with the 1st round pick!
Austin (Bombers supporter), 21 Sep 2008 13:49hide comment
Sounds risky... Kerr's a couple of years older than Dal Santo yeah? He's a premiership player (like Schneider who was also a great pick-up for the Saints) and would easily be St. Kilda's best player if they could get him. The Question is why would the Eagles want to get rid of their best player? First-round draft picks are more valuable then ever before with the new teams coming in soon. I know why the Eagles would want that draft pick, but I think going for youth is the Saints best option too. If I was the Saints I'd try trade them Kosi instead of that draft pick and take the deal. In fact I'd try trade off Kosi to anyone who would be interested for a packet of crisps.
Matt from Melbourne (Saints supporter), 21 Sep 2008 12:41hide comment
why would we want to give up dal santo AND a first round pick... silly.
Jodie from Melbourne (Cats supporter), 21 Sep 2008 10:56hide comment
That sounds like the Eagles are getting a raw deal, or a very stupid one, Dal Santo hasn't lived up to potential, when the pressure is on he wilts. I think maybe Armitage & Fisher might suffice, but will the Saints give that up?? The fact is you have to trade great players to get great players and the fact is Kerr is better than every player on your list bar Riewoldt.

Tarrant from Melbourne (Blues supporter), 20 Sep 2008 23:50hide comment
I'm not convinced I'd be happy with that, as an Eagles fan. Dal Santo is midway through his career and a bit soft, so he's not the sort of player I'd want to rebuild with. He'd be a better fit into a team already nearing its window, but is a bit soft. As for the Saints, it depends upon how highly the club rates its young players. Kerr would help their midfield, and if they're happy that the young guys can form the core of a premiership team, then it would be a handy trade. They still lack that ruckman, though.
