please stop whinging mick malthouse.
why do supprters of footy have to put up with weekly, monthly yearly execuses. we as footy fans get sick and verfy tired of it. i think collingwood have done a good job with there young list, no doubt. they have bought in more kids, and the future(i say with clinched teeth) looks good. but once again after st kilda lifted and pounded the pies. mick had another red herring. he talked about how drained all the players from the travelling they have done in the last month. FROGSH%&T. collingwood people think it is there right not travel. i am still hearing them winging about going to freo for the last round. STIFF. it is a national competion that is not run from the lexus centre. i think history will probaly show collingwood usally get a good run with the draw most years. Everyone travels period. to use that as an excuse in finals is a cop out. yes every one gets tired, yes every one travels. and yes that include collingwood. mick is clearly a brilliant coach, with a fantastic record. but year after year he lets himself down with media red herrings. get over mick

I agree Collingwood need to face the fact that the players have no HEART! They lack the passion to go all the way and this is enabled by their coach, president and supporters comming up with all the excuses in the World. Stop talking about what could have happened and cut out all the excuses and make a honest judgement of what the team stands for. But they never will, because no one at Collingwood can face the fact they dont have the Heart, team culture or discipline to win a Premiership!

All those qualities you mention have been written about Geelong only a few years ago. The reason they have such a good list is because they UNDER ACHIEVED for so many years and therefore got better draft picks.

Guy do you know what your talking about better darft picks have Geelong had a priority pick in the last 10 years no they have had to trade to get picks inside the top ten most years, unlike Collingwood who dip down the ladder to get D.Thomas so to say that shows you have no idea,Yes they have under achieved in the past but there were a lot of reasons for that,

Blocker, I think what I said is the obvious. The player review Geelong performed in 06 had many factors to come out. One of them being that certain players could and should work harder, the stand out here being G Ablett and look how that has turned thing around!!!!! What I'm saying is Geelong on potential should have challenged the previous years. When they believed in their own ability they have, well become premiers. Their was no hard luck story for them in the previous years, they just didn't believe, as a result they got draft picks earlier than they would have, if they believed. Those draft picks were valid and at no time did Geelong tank. What Geelong have done is show with belief and determination anything is possible. Steve Johnson is a classic story, one I wish had a Collingwood flavour. I like many will always wonder what if, had Collingwood taken the offer. I think the fact Geelong's earliest draft pick over the last ten years is 6 or 7 says that they were always around the mark. I have rated Geelong flag possibilities for over 3 years. I don't think Collingwood dipped down to get Thomas and I think that perception is an attack on Collingwood that is not justified. This bloke Scott and the other losers on here attack Collingwood constantly without justification, just for something to do, I just sit back and think god I'm glad my life is more fulfilled!

Your so f u c k i n g frustrating you think you know it all, but u know sh!t. Geelong should have won or should have been close to winning a Premiership in 05 or 06. It wasnt until the team made honest and open assesments of each other and the players put the responsibility squarely on themselves, that they started winning consistantly and won a Premiership. Collingwood need to learn that a gallant loss is not as good as a win, mearly making the finals is not good enough, beating the Premiership favorite in Round 9 is not good enough and making excuses only creates a team culture which damages players commitment and hunger for winning. Geelong had to learn some big lessons and im sure if you pull your head out of your ass long enough you will realise that Collingwood need to do the same before they can be successful!

I'm frustrating Scott, you say I know sh'it but you then in your reply state exactly what I said. Now that to be is frustrating. "It wasnt until the team made honest and open assesments of each other and the players put the responsibility squarely on themselves, that they started winning consistantly and won a Premiership." Yes Scott what you have said here is that they underachieved. There was no new talent besides Selwood (who Geelong got as they underachieved in 2006) added to the premiership team. What I've stated is clear for all to see. Geelong could have been like the St Kilda of the 80's, great on paper but failed to achieve. Geelong thru the players review changed from underachievers to premiers. The players were always there. Your just being like the majority of losers in these forums having no life and wanting to attack Collingwood. Thats for all to see.

The only reason I single out Collingwood, is because I have not stopped hearing about the Prelim last year and Round 9 this year when Collingwood supporters thought they had the Premiership. Im sure I will cop it again if Geelong manage to win again this year. All you Pies supporters will make comments like "you wouldnt have beaten us in the Grand Final", "Geelong only got the Premiership because they didnt meet us in the finals, remember what happened in Round 9" blah blah blah. And I would hate to think what sort of crap you will come up with if they dont win it!

What a load of crap. I rarely hear anything these days about last years prelim. Considering Geelong's easy win over Port in the grand final, Collingwood fans have reason to be happy about last year just as they are justified with their 86 point drubbing this year. I wasn't a Geelong fan but enjoyed watching their wins against Brisbane and West Coast when they were the dominant teams. As it turns out it was a sign of things to come. Nothing wrong with dreaming. Besides Collingwood talk has been nothing compared with the Geelong fans crap this year. Nah don't make excuses, your just like all the other losers who have nothing better to do with their day than to bit'ch about Collingwood.

I got plenty of better things to be doing, thats why this is the first time Ive had a say in weeks. I just love any chance I get to bag Collingwood because the majority of their supporters are f uckw!ts and your the perfect example of that!

Well said David. Maybe Mighty Mick should have spoken about some of the other issues to come out of the game like Neon Leon once again not getting a kick when there's a little heat in the kitchen!! Oh and I nearly forgot to mention Daisy!! I agree that the kids that they introduced throughout the year look to be a good bunch - but maybe not as Mighty Mick also failed to mention that! What Malthouse said in that press conference is precisely the reason you, me and 80% of Australia HATE Collingwood and their supporters. The sooner they stop their whinging ways the better it will be for them! I'll be interested to read GUY SMILEY'S comeback on this!

My comeback on this has been stated many times before. The boys from Tassie on this forum are yet to make a decent comment on football. The only reason there on here is because their sisters have run away. Its just another wan'ker with nothing better to do than have a go at Collingwood. Seriously get a life.

Guy you seem to get personnel at times! Another thing that shows your mentality! Clearly you have no comeback to my comments which is fine! I didn't expect anything but dribble anyway. As I said before Collingwood have had a good year in terms of blooding youngsters. No doubt they have some good kids coming through as do others. Maybe they should focus on this instead of sooking about having to travel. Anyway I look forward to another insightful comment within 5 minutes of this being posted!

In regards to the travel, I do recall a few years back interstate clubs asked and were given approval not to be given certain away trips in round 22. I guess if the AFL wanted to be totally fair, round 22 games would only require Brisbane and Sydney to play each other alternated years and no other travel. WC v Freo, Port v Adel, Melbourne clubs in melbourne. With Western Sydney and GC17 coming in, it would remove travel for all clubs and be the fairest system, would it not?? It could be a celebration of AFL in the states before the finals. I've come to expect from you though Clinton that logical answers don't get through your dense head(s).

jeez this is another poor post. Do u honestly think kids dont get tired after playing a full season of AFL? of course they do. The facts are Collingwood lost key players during the season and had to play kids in those spots. To make it as far as they did was fantastic, im still dissapointed we couldnt make the prelim and perhaps get a flag but thats life. Im sure the club will come back next season and put up a great effort barring injuries but thats like any other club. If you take kids to Perth, then Adelaide in intense matches which a lot to play for it obviously will take a lot out of u. I think the media have blown what he said after the match way out of proportion. All he said was his kids were fatigued and had nothing left after a long season and the last fortnight took it out of them. Thats it, big deal. Its probably spot on the money, i guess the media and yourself forgot to add he gave St Kilda credit and said they were clearly the better side and deserved the win but lets just focus on the negatives lol.
