I was thinking about the contingency rule that the AFL brought in after the lights went out at Waverley Park, and I remember that there was a specific game where it could have been enforced. There was lightning, and it was three-quarter time, and I seem to recall that it was actually the trailing team's captain who proposed that they abandon the game and accept the scoreline, and that the leading team's captain rejected the offer. I think it was a night game in Adelaide involving the Crows, and I think I have it pinpointed down to the May 22nd 1999 clash against Richmond. Does anybody remember this very obscure occurrence and can confirm or help me out?
