Why is your team a good one to follow?
Hey,

Just found this forum and enjoying it. A mate's sister from America arrived the other day and needs to discover a club to support. So far a few rules apply and are as follows.
1. Only Melbourne teams need suggestion
Reason - Her brother follows Sydney as thats where he lived when 1st arrived. As she is living in Melbourne follow the same rule.
2. Only finals teams need suggestion.
Reason - Here for a short time not a long time, maximum enjoyment
So if you think they'll make it give it a crack

So please fill this board with suggestions as to why your club is the best and why supporting them will enhance her view on this great game.
No comments about other teams please, it's about your club and why they deserve to be supported.

Yes I'm a Collingwood supporter and known to some as Mr "Eddie" as I'm always talking up the Pies. However for this exercise I'm staying neutral so Pie fans lead ya voice to this cause.

Erin has decided she needs 2 weeks to watch some games and get a feel for the clubs. So we will post the team she choses but should be interesting to view the discussion anyway.

Time is ticking

Mal,
Obviously like most Carlton fans you can't read. "Nothing to be said about other clubs!"
Guess we can take it you have nothing good to say about your club.

No, Guy, I read your "Nothing to be said about other clubs!" rule. But I chose to deliberately ignore it because it was a stupid stipulation.

Lots of good stuff to say about my club. But I don't think we'll make finals.

Erin

I think u should go 4 Hawthorn...Not only r they the hottest team in the AFL, but they r hard at the ball & a real contender 4 the flag this yr, & the next few yrs 2 cum.
They r a reasonably young club full of promise & potential & should finish in the top 4 at the end of the home & away season....wich means they either get a week off after the 1st game if they win, or get a 2nd chance 2 redeem themselves if they lose.
Alltho they don't hav the prettiest team colors (brown & gold) they r awsum 2 watch....& xcitin players such as Lance "BUDDY" Franklin, Roughead, Williams, Rioli up 4ward, Sam Mitchell (captain of the Hawks), Luke Hodge, Lewis, Sewell, Crawford in the mid field, Trent Croad, Gueirra, Dew, & my fave Cambell Brown up back...How could u not pik em??

Barrack for Geelong. As much as I hate it they are the team most likley to win the flag and will probably be good for a couple of years.Realisticly they have the best player in the league (discuss another day.) They are one of the highest scoring teams in the comp and seem to be flogging everyone. But then she has to be a Geelong supporter which can't be good
Nabih (Hawks supporter), 29 Jun 2008 21:12 hide comment
hawks coz we got the biggest star in the game on our team, ROUGHEAD, and were finals contenders for the next 7 years anyway, so why not

Erin....melbourne the oldest and full of history. Will be on the way up in a few years. The team needs support as it is struggling to be a power house as it once was. Melbourne demons is has the least profile in Victoria and probably in the AFL.

For all the reasons above and many more Melbourne could be a perfect fit. Though you must find a connection to a club not just go for one because it is winning!

i reackon the roos are up there for least hated teams.

Bulldogs, for the simple reason that nobody hates the Bulldogs. If I were only going to be here a short time, I'd want an entertaining team (like the Dogs) without the wide range of detractors and haters (like the Magpies, Blues, Saints, Hawks).

Erin, you simply must barrack for the Bulldogs. There are too many reasons to mention but mainly because as Tarrant said they are the least hated team in the comp. The Bulldogs are always everybodies second favourite team and yet we have the least number of members of any club, so basically the more the merrier. We also are the highest scoring side this year and their fast run and carry style game is ALWAYS exciting to watch. And with a 300+ game captain Brad Johnson who always puts in 100% and with players like Adam Cooney17, Daniel Cross 4, Mathew Boyd 5, Robert Murphy 2, Daniel Gianseracusa 13, Ryan Hargrave 25, Dale Morris 38, Mitch Hahn 8, Ryan Griffin 16, Jason Akermanis 21 all in close to career best form, and having beaten every team in the top 8 except Geelong who we play in in round 16 at skilled stadium in Geelong, which by the way if you want to see a good game this season, ignore all the hype the GeelongvHawthon game is attracting, get to Geelong and make up some numbers for the Doggies we are going to need all the support we can get at that game.

The last thought I'll leave you with is that this year the Doggies are having the best start to any season they have ever had. Any they are just getting started. If there was ever a time to barrack for the Red White and Blue that time is NOW.

Crows will tease you...and them let you down when it counts most...they don't know how to finish the job off.
