St.Kilda
I feel really sorry for the saints. They have a very talented list and have been up at the top for the past couple of years but now its all falling to pieces.

They seem to play with very little confidence in themselves as players and a team and due to this they dont give it their all.

Alot of players have been tradded for to boost experiance levels and few of them have paid off. Now that they seem to be going to start a re-building phase again with the draft the way it is in the next 2 years and the lack of current quality youth they have they are in a bad position.

Some of their players have been spoken about as trade bait like Kozi and Reiwolt to the Gold Coast team but i think that as the end of the year they need to determine who will try for the team and who will not and remove those not willing to give it their all (of which there are alot) If they are required to move on as much as 10 or more players than it must be done.

Hope to see the Saints recovering soon. I just dont think they are eny good any more and wouldnt be surprised if they dont win another game for the rest of the year.

Your Thought?

Just to show how bad they are going they dump Dal Santo and Milne not for poor form but for being prety much just being soft. Not good sign for the players but good signs that the coaches are waking up.

I remember we did that with Lappin two years ago, and he played a much better defensive game on return. So there's certainly precedent.

Saint won't win a flag they don't know how to it's their culture. Always a losers mentallity. Blueboys will win one before them as we expect it and demand it

I have no sympathy. They had a place open fur public display 'reserved for the '08 Premiership Cup' in their oppices earlier this year.

Grant Thomas got a mediocre list way into the finals because he was a great coach and had the guys really working for each other. Sydney's shown that an average team can win the flag if they play smart and give 100% effort to helping their teammates.

But because of Thomas' abilty to drag his team close to the top, the board and other parties believed they had players to win a flag, whereas it was all through excellent coaching.

Now they are slowly realising that their list is still mediocre and while it boasts a superstar of the game (Harvey) they're a long way off the pack, and don't have a senior coach who can bring the best out of their players.

I have to say that I've enjoyed the way the Bulldogs have played this season, and since my team's out, I will be hoping the Bulldogs go all the way this year.

Without trying to sound like a jerk, I don't feel much sympathy either. Saints fans have been exceptionally cocky in recent years, and they have a wide range of players I despise.

They do need to start over. With the redrafting of Gehrig and a swag of pretty dicey-looking recyclables over a couple of years, their window is closed. For the good of the team, (don't attack me for saying this) Harvey has to retire at the end of the year, because there is no benefit to the Saints long-term (or maybe he could do a Ray Bourque). The weak end of the 22 - which has been criticised for years - has to be shown the door, and new guys need to be brought in. Fortunately, the Saints have enough quality mid-20s guys that they'll never completely bottom out, and the players they recruit should have good teachers around them. They also need to seriously consider whether Ross Lyon - brought in specifically to take the team that one step further than Grant Thomas could - is the right man to rebuild with.

with the harvey comment. he looks like hes been the onli palyer out there trying this season, apart from hayes and ball. i would not be suprised if he finished top 5 in this years best and fairest, or is in the top 5 atm.

but it doesnt matter, this is his last season and everyone knows that.

I feel no sympathy... no one has ever felt sorry for the Blues and I am happy to see St Kilda continue to struggle.

i think the reason no-one felt sympathy for the blues was because u went over the salary cap and somehow lost games u shouldnt have to obtain high draft picks.
the blues will be good for a while but its ppl like u that make me want them to struggle.

Why should anyone feel sorry for the saints? You have had your fair share of first round draft picks, and your team is full of big names who should be performing. You have been the most over rated team for a long time. Every year the Saints are talked up and every year they fail.

The sacking of Grant Thomas for a personality clash with your president tells me that the Saints have brought about their own lack of success. And now you are stuck with a one trick wonder coach (reminds me of Pagan). No sympathy.

mate. the thing about stkilda being overrated is that its the media that has been talking them up, and then those same people in the media saying there over rated. i dont care if we have an over rated team personally. we have a great list and i think we should be in a lot better position then we are now with the talent we have. players like dal santo, hayes, reiwoldt, goddard, sam fisher would start in pretty much any team in the league. its not our fault the the media talk us up every year.

sacking grant thomas was one of the stupidest things i have seen in my life. and then for ross lyon to get the job, after onli applying because robert walls told him to was just bull****. especially because walls was on the board that chose the next coach. the saints board is fuked. im a kangas fan for the rest of the year anyway love how they play footy. great to watch. as for no sympathy i dont really care wat u think coz i dont no u n never plan on getting to no u. ur sympathy is irrelevant. its just people like you that follow clubs make u dislike them. like all the old geelong bags at the games.

what u just said is exacly my point. Quote"we have a great list and i think we should be in a lot better position then we are now with the talent we have." No matter how talented a list is confidence and determination will always win a game of footy over talent. The saints have very little of both confidence and determination.

There is something very wrong about the saints, they are in an even worse postion than the dees were at the begining of the year.

i think its funny how grant thomas had a injury riddled list and could get us in the finals, and ross lyon has or had basically a full list and is struggling to get in the 8.

hmmm not sure about that.
Hudghton has missed more then half of the time Lyon has been there, Maguire has played bugger all, Baker has played 1 or 2 games this year and he was the best and fairest last year, Kosi has been plaing hurt, Riewoldt is playing hurt, X Clarke has been injured, Ball has been injured and Gardiner has only just started to play.
I would give Lyon a bit more of time b4 deciding if he is going nowhere.

hudghton didnt play many under thomas either. niether did x clarke. both very injury prone. luke ball got the OP under thomas and gardiner wasnt there.
also reiwoldt was injuried for a large chuck of thomas's time, along with kozi with his no awareness. kozi onli really palyed 1 solid year under thomas n thats wen he won the nab rising star. also hamil was injured heaps under thomas aswell. baker was suspended every second week. he lost heath black to freo and gained fiora...lol.

anywayz. i think both lyon n thomas had around equal injury problems. but the difference was thomas could coach well enough that the injuries wernt a major issue.

i dont liek the way ross lyon coaches. its jsut... defensive n sydney/adelaide like. its boring to watch. he has an attacking list. thats wat grant thomas built up on. attacking palyers. now hes getting them to defend. i dont get it. we are competitiveand attacking and elad at 1/4 time and then just defend. its crap.
