how does wallace keep his job??
Been there too long.no finals. Nothing has changed. Their best player also their oldest. The list hasn't improved much. boring to watch. Has to go!

harsh.
wallace is bringing the same sort of mentallity in his charges he had at the Bullies a few years ago. they now will try their guts out. just look at richo out on the wing this season. setting an example for the team.
Jennifer from Launceston (Tigers supporter), 30 Jun 2008 21:26hide comment
i like him cause you dont see him getting angry like other coaches in his box
and he drinks coke zero lol
nah i think his doing a good job gotta rebuild and play those younger boys richo man wont be around forever and he has been so good this year very exciting player to watch.... finals arent everything but it would be nice for them to get in in the next year or 2 go tigers keep up the good work terry boy

Perhaps Kevin Bartlett should coach?
Brett from Melbourne (Kangaroos supporter), 26 Jun 2008 9:33hide comment
I'm not the biggest fan of Wallace but you have to admit the Tigers have looked much, much better this year.

But you're right. Richo's their best player and he probably doesn't have much longer left in the game.

Still, I think players like Deledio and Foley are only going to get better. And they have a star on the rise in Trent Cotchin.

The only problem I think they'll have is their key position stocks. Polak is ok but is probably never going to be a matchwinning player.

well Richo's not boring to watch...but yes agree, you do wonder about some clubs.

Well.

I understand where you guys are coming from being supporters from other teams. However being a Richmond supporter I think Big Wallo has done an amazing job. I used to not be able to watch Richmond play. It didn't look like they were having a crack.

Now however, watching Richo cover just as much ground as any mid-fielder would and quarters such as Q2 against the Demons and Q1 against the Power shows how far he's brought them.

There'll be people like you guys saying the same stuff in a year or two about Ratten and Knights. Give the coaches a break when they're new to a club. With un-familiar player lists.

I highly doubt either Ratten or Knights will be wooden spooners in their third seasons with their clubs. The unfamiliar lists excuse does not work beyond the first season.

Yeah But I don't see them playing finals after three seasons either. Wooden spoon or not, last year we lost 6 or 7 games that we perhaps should have won. We played a lot better football last year than most give us credit for.

This is funny considering this happened to Geelong Two years ago... GO Tigers!

What do you mean no change?
There's defiintely been a change this year.
It takes time to rebuild a team...

Although he did move Richo to the wing. That was a pretty clever move. However Wallace in not as good of a coach as he was 10 years ago. He seems to lack passion that he once had. He is also does not put on a competitive face when dealing with the media
Darcy from Richmond (Magpies supporter), 18 Jun 2008 19:04hide comment
He hasn't, and won't be sacked because he has a 5 year contract that Richmond can't afford to pay out.
Austin (Bombers supporter), 17 Jun 2008 20:33hide comment
Pagan was sacked because the Carlton player's clearly didn't respect him him, and hadn't been responding to his style of coaching for a good 3 years.

I do think Terry Wallace is respected by his players. And their team is beginning to get some rewards.

Their best player is Richo, and there's nothing wrong with that! Hirdy was Essendon's best 'till he retired, and Harvey will also be St. Kilda's best till he retires. That's what happens with the Champions of the game though.

Dave from Adelaide (Crows supporter), 17 Jun 2008 19:21hide comment
was a 5 year deal too much for any coach of a new team of course taking into consideration of developing the list and game style?
Tarrant from Melbourne (Blues supporter), 17 Jun 2008 12:09hide comment
All along, they've said that they would wait until he was 75% into his five-year contract before they would ever make a judgement. That's about five weeks from now, and they're starting to show promise at about the right time. So he won't be sacked early. However, if Richmond's form next year is not a marked improvement on this year, he will struggle to keep his job - which is why Denis Pagan got sacked from Carlton. Our 2007 form should have been better than 2006; it wasn't, and Denis had to go.

yeah have to agree with everything said, i dunno how wallace is still there. Wallace seems to get out of it, i reckon if melb beat them last weekend wallace would of been sacked.
