Funny how Andy supports Carlton, are you a member? This is so long ago but seems as your club is **** you can't live for the glory of today. You still are probably watching the 1995 finals DVD making comment about how great "footy" was then.

There are so many incidents in football folklore, but the Dasher incident is not forgotten. I recon carlton supporters only remember it because it was when they were actually half GOOD .... Now, hmmm not sure what they are, but let me say this much, Carlton supporters, hell even Geelong supporters need to move on. I had actually forgotten about it until I saw this thread. And then I thought about it and I smiled to myself, remembering how idiotic and stupid it was. Darren Milburn stuffed up, he knows it, the AFL knew it ... Barry Hall stuffed up, he knows it, the AFL know it. Leigh Matthews stuffed up, hell it went to court as well. And you wanna mention Byron Pickett? A few years ago Pickett ruined dashers season, for head hunting him HIGH and popped his shoulder clean out when dasher was over the ball. Maybe that was Karma on Dashers part for the Silvagni incident, who knows? The thing is IT IS FOOTBALL, A BODY CONTACT SPORT, things will happen and they obviously do. The only thing I still see wrong was Dasher clapping and smiling, NOTHING ELSE. That part was pathetic. Far out people, lets enjoy our unique game that is ours, not bitch and moan about the past, it doesn't change the now does it? No. So just .... move your pretty little faces on.

As a Collingwood supporter that was a season highlihgt for me. Pretty boy over rated Silvagni getting cleaned up and then Milburn clapping the moran carlton fans. Carlton fans have nothing to whine about here, they cheated the salary cap and cost Essendon a chance to win a flag.

Have you ever seen him do anything even remotely the same since? He grew into one of the most consistent, highly valued member of the Geelong team that is far from a dirty player, he is a hard worker and has deserved every place in the All Australian side ..we all do stupid things, I think that it is time to get over it...I don't keep going on about Leigh Colbert leaving Geelong when he was Captain..it's pointless history...just like Milburn and SOS..time to let go

I'm sorry but I won't move on. There is nothing that I hat more than when a player cowardly goes the man instead of putting his own body on the line... and in this instance he could have near killed sos. It's just like Byron Pickett.. everyone talks about how tough he is but I believe he is the biggest coward there is. Sos aint forgot either... he's just waiting for the right moment to strike with vengence.

are you serious! So every player that has shirt fronted another player is a coward..cos clearly they weren't going for the ball! Name one player that in their entire playing life, they have never gone for the player instead of the ball...name one player that hasn't been in a fight on the footy field..cos clearly that is going for the player not the ball...what about a hip and shoulder Andy, that is going for the player who doesn't have the ball ...and SOS is over it, no player of his status let alone age would hold such a ridiculous grudge let alone want vengence! Get over it...just like we have every player that takes the head of Ablett Jrn off everytime he goes for the game, which occurs about 20 times during a game and you don't see him or us whinging that they are going for the man instead of the player cos he is that good!!

I think you will find what I am reffering to is when the ball is between two players, while one does the tough thing and tries to win the ball not knowing what is coming at him, the other decides to take the week option and not take the risk of being hurt and goes the man. ie... exactly what he did but in rediculously dangerous fashion. .... i'm over you clowns.... goodbye.

Hahahaha that is pathetic at best! At least 2007 we played, well we actually slaughtered a team, without paying our players millions to play. You wouldn't know what that feels like. And now look at carlton, another president on criminal charges, feel good about barracking for carlton still? Your hierarchy are a bunch of idiots. As for Dasher, damn you lot need to get over it, you do realise booing him makes him play better? He thrives on the crap you lot throw at him. He is ALWAYS in the best players, most times the best on ground against your lot. I do realise what he did as in clapping and smiling was below the belt, but he has paid for it .... And silvagni does not have any ill feelings against him now, so why should you? Do you see Geelong supporters boo Lee Matthews because of what he did to Neville Bruns? No, I don't think so. Grow up, the lot of you!

Anyone who has played footy has probably done or said something they regret and I'm sure Dasher does regret this one incident. In all I reckon he has turned out to be one of the fairest players in the AFL. It was an awesome shirtfront though and kudos to SOS for keeping eye the ball. Most players in that situation especially that long ago would have cleaned the oncoming player up.I am surprised he made it out of Princes Park alive though.
Nick from Melbourne (Bombers supporter), 7 Jun 2008 18:34hide comment
It was poor form, that kind of behavior has no place in the game. Don't know why it was brought up now though.
Tarrant from Melbourne (Blues supporter), 5 Jun 2008 13:42hide comment
I booed him for a couple of years, but I'm over it now. He hasn't shown himself to be continuously dirty (only one report since, I believe), and I have a lot of respect for him as a player. But Tim, etc, it was a terrible hit on a hall-of-fame player, and his behaviour baiting the crowd afterwards was shameful. We can forgive, but we must still condemn the action, as you should if you wish to look credible. I remember the game, also. It was the final quarter, round 22. Carlton made the finals, Geelong did not. It was a very dark, overcast day, and Optus Oval had no lights so it was very dim. Geelong had not scored a goal since quarter time, nor would they by game's end. Carlton was dominating. It was the second crude hit of the quarter - I can't remember whose the first one was or whom it was on, but the crowd was already on edge. All of these factors contributed to the extremely hostile atmosphere, which has led to the memory of the hit living on and Milburn still being booed by some.
Tim from Wodonga (Cats supporter), 5 Jun 2008 11:06hide comment
One of the all time great hits! Put him in the hall of fame for it alone
