Thoughts on tonights Origin match
All I can say is hurry up and get this game over with so we can get back into the serious games. Has there ever been so much concern for the players in an Origin match before? I mean think of it from the players perspective, to be chosen to play in one of these sides would have to be a great confidence boost because it puts you into the category of the best players in the league, it's a real honor. But players that have been injured in the past few weeks simply should not be playing tonite. Think about it these players stand out every week anyway pretty much so it will give some of the other names a chance for a bit of limelight and the injured players a chance to recover.

I understand the symbolic reference to the game tonite being the 150 year anniversary match and I will be watching the game but ultimately I just want it to be over so we can get on with the rest of the season. And if Griffo gets hurt I'll probably cry I think...

I travelled over for the game and had a great time, depsite the fact we lost to the Vics. This game should never be played again, its a one off to celebrate 150 years. Its not State of Origin either, it was just a exhibition match. Vics vs SA would have been way better and thats what we all want.
Hopefully 1 day we can get the concept right and have full support of the clubs and players but i guess this will never happen.

But we don't all want that... As a Qlder - I couldn't care less about Vic vs SA... And anyway, aren't there more WA players playing than SA... so if it had to be only two teams, I would have thought WA would get the nod over SA...

I think Parkin's idea about playing State of Origin football every 5 years with a relegation system is good.... 8 teams for states and territories split into two groups of 4 with relegations etc

I see what your saying, im just saying Victoria and SA are the 2 biggest footballing states, no disrespect to WA. It needs to be a round robin or whoever wins theres games play eachother the following year.

As Joel said, it should be played pre-season.

Most players didn't give it their all last night but you can't blame them with 15 rounds to go. I feel for the two who got injured. Since no Essendon players were selected I could relax.

Wasn't a bad night at the G though. Good to see some tricky skills and I loved the marathon mexican wave.

i just had no passion for a particular team.... and it was a tad sloppy because both teams didn't really know each other so they lacked game plan, there was some awesome skill but i just didn't get into it like i thought i would. I think a geelong or Hawthorn side could beat both the Dream Team or Victoria just because they are so much smoother in execution of play.

I think its a great exhibiition for AFL, should be played every year but in the off season or pre-season.

I agree about it being played in the off season, it'd be great to see a whole round robin style with all the states and territories involved. But I'd say the chances of that happening would be pretty low.

The game last night was great to watch in terms of skill it was smooth and I guess it would have been super to be there but overall I found myself sidetracked pretty easily while watching it.

would be more interested if it was vics v sa.
more of a rivalry n more meaning in the match i reackon.

also was hyped up wayyy to much.

I agree. I won't be watching it. The only thing I would find remotely interesting is watching Jarrad Waite if he lines up on Lance Franklin.
