Who is your favorite for the Rising Star award so far???
I am very much torn between a bunch, Leroy Jetta has played fantastic but also Bachar Houli has great presence as well, even Alwyn Davey is so exciting. Then theres Ryan Gamble from Geelong. Mackay has played fantastically for the Crows as well. Brad Ebert for the Eagles has played brilliantly. Rhys Palmer for Freo is great in the midfiled and really gets a lot of ball! Keiran Jack for Sydney has proven enough to be a full timer for the Swans. Kurt Tippet could be a sensation for the Crows between playing in the forward line and the ruck. There are plenty of others but who is your pick???

David mackay from crows shows he has talent but been a little quiet last few weeks but for me id say cyril rioli from hawks

Every time I see Kieran Jack play he just gets better and better, even when playing on some of the best players in the AFL. He did a great job on Kerr the other week, and he even did well against such quality opposition as Gary Ablett Jr (even though in the end Gary got away from him). He plays with so much enthusiasm - exciting player to watch.

David Armitage played like a star last night, I don't know why the Saints haven’t played him in our side since the NAB cup. He definitely would have been better then some of the other rubbish that's been playing in our side.

Matthew Spangher did great last night, even with a devastating loss. I think he'll be a real threat in the future.

Josh Hill or Rhys Palmer for me....best thing is they are West Aussies, which is promising for the future of footy in this state.

My top 3 in order:

From what i've seen of him, Rhys Palmer looks like he is going to be a very good player. Quick, can win the ball himself and uses it well. Looks like a 10 year player and someone freo can rebuild their midfield around over the next few years...

Nathan Brown from the pies has had a good start to the season and has some decent scalps already.

Cale Morton looks composed and polished, which is hard to do in a Melbourne jumper at the moment...

to early to call i think but if i had to make a call id say tom hawkins (if hes eligible) Roili, Kruezer, Palmer and Hill are not to far away but as i say its to early to call. Morton had a very good game yesterday and could win it if he playes well enough seing that he is a high draft pick.

At this early stage I'd have to nominate Josh Hill and Rhys Palmer as the favourites. I'd throw Rioli in there too, but think midfielders have the advantage. Can't forget about Selwood either if he lives up to his pedigree over the next few months.

Its out of Hill and Palmer for me. Palmer is a ball magnet and should have won the Glendinning Medal. Unsure if Nathan Brown from Collingwood is eligible, held Pavlich to 1 goal, Brown to 2 goals and Richo to 1 goal. Has Fevola this week, what a introduction to AFL

I may be biased but so are others who only notice their players or youngsters from high profile clubs but gee at the moment any commentator would be picking Josh Hill from the Dogs. Listen to them rave about him and with good reason. 3 games averaging 18 possessions 8 marks ( half of them contested) and 2 goals a game. He brought us back into the game against the Saints and Crows. He kicks flashy goals, takes big marks, tackles well.
Guys like Houli, Tuck, Palmer are getting possessions, Tippett is showing big man potential and Kruezer had a good first game but Hill is making a difference to results - in a winning team. I think I have a man crush!!! But seriously - Hill's in front after 3 rounds.
Tarrant from Melbourne (Blues supporter), 6 Apr 2008 21:21 hide comment
As a guess, I would have thought Davey was ineligible (didn't he play more than 10 games last year?), and I don't think Houli is in Rising Star class.Gamble has looked very handy; I only saw Tippett in the NAB final, but he looked very good; certainly can't count Kreuzer out, since he had a very good debut; haven't seen enough of anyone else to comment.

I'm going to be bias here and say Jarryn Geary.
