Will Collingwood be the Man. U. of the football world?
Hey Daniel your loyalty is commendable . But like our president said if you want Collingwood to be the MAN.U of the football world you need to grow. So far Eddie has just about got every thing right. I am one of the lucky ones that got to see the Pies at Vic park. One of the reasons we are a great club is lexus stadium and all it's facilities and that jealousy you feel is no where as great as the jealousy felt by other clubs. Have you ever been overseas and had someone come up and say thats a COLLINGWOOD top. I Have and it felt great.... CARLTON don't have have that. And it's most likely .
cause there still in the PARK. Collingwoods past is the reason they are at lexus and way way in the future we will thank NOW for where we are then.

GO PIES GO EDDIE 08

P.S.LIke the song says Daniel we stick together.Dont tell me to shut up. GO PIES :-)

Interesting. Have u been to St Kilda within the last 5 years lol.

Every area has your lower class but SCOUSERS are way more feral then Mancs.
The new breed of Collingwood fans are not the old school ferals, that tag will die sooner or later. They are much more corporate these days.

Oh Matt, there is nothing wrong with hating another club but to say EVERY collingwood supporter is one eyed and a feral is far from the truth.
I work for a major accounting firm Australia wide and the CEO and alot of managers and co-workers r Collingwood supporters. Just cause there is a media portrayl that all Collingwood supporters r feral isnt the case.
Every club has feral fans, ive met a ton load of Saints ones that would be struggling to count to 10 but that doesnt mean all Saints fans r feral.

Good luck with the season Matt, i think u have a chance of winning it although Geelong will be tough to beat

If thats the case then Adrian then should we think St Kilda fans r fat overweight ferals cause the Saints cheersquad have 2 of the fattest blokes u will ever see and i know u know who im talking about lol.

Every cheersquad are bogans, all of them!!! That is their life and what they live for. If you are baseing views on teams by their cheersquads then every club are ferals.

If you hate Collingwood then thats fine, but to say all fans r ferals is over the top.

he needs a second set of steps to get back onto the stand.

collingwood fans are either feral or alrite. but the alrite ones, once it gets to the game... there feral. always love baggin a collingwood fan at the footy... even if the saints are losing (which isnt uncommon) u can still give it to them.

and as for joffa... taht bloke is a complete fukwit.
and wen collingwood gave him a role at the club i lol'd more then i did when i heard fev pissed on somethin.
joffa is THE definition of bogan.

im not saying all colligwood supporters are ferals, i know some nice colligwood supporters, but no other team has a fan that is that insane. the sainter guys are fat but there not outspoken idiots. joffa held up a sign last year when colligwood played brisbane that red 'piss off brisbane' it made the headlines for the next week. people were saying that colligwood supporters have lost it and other stuff. im just saying that you cant complain when people say that colligwood supporters are idiots because the main guy they think of is joffa.

one of them is my best friend, you will always get people from areas that are rough that dont fit the profile. How about that little kid riding his bike in a Everton top gets killed by teenagers just cause they were Liverpool. Its disgusting. That stuff happens all the time there. Doesnt happen in Manchester, if someone is wearing a city top and ur united you may say something but it doesnt get physical. It would only if u went in there wearing a Leeds top or something from London

Both Manchester and Liverpool are wharfies plain and simple, i just hate Liverpool

I would say collingwood is more like a liverpool... Sometimes they get so close, but fall at the last hurdle and choke... Their fans are really ugly, most are scum, and are not very well educated... Having lots of money, doesn't just make you the man utd of anything, results and a decent fan base is a contributing factor to it too.. Collingwood are now a part of the drought clubs(teams who have not won a flag in a very long time), including melbourne, bulldogs, saints, etc, etc, etc... If collingwood did what brisbane did in 2001,02,03 and the runner up of 04, then maybe I'd give your question some credit, but they didn't..

On another note, Afew years back, Manchester united and Essendon bombers signed a deal to be partners in some sorta way. Quote me if im wrong on that?

You are 100% correct there Josh. Money does not make you the Manchester United of A.F.L., success does. If you really wanted to say who is the Man United of AFL, in the past 10 years you would say Brisbane. Essendon is a close second.
On your last point, yes I think you are right. I believe it was done in 2002/03.

it was ok for me, as I've gone for manchester united for as long as ive gone for the bombers... which is pretty much my whole life... Teddy sheringham used to be my favourite player, and so was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He unfortunatly fell to the same problem as James Hird, with many injuries, which pretty much ended his career. He did get to play abit near the end there, but mostly off the bench if he was lucky enough not to be injured... A sad time in both team's when James Hird and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer retired...

I cant believe i have something in common with a Essendon supporter. What to do now?

But it was good to hear about us winning, and ill be watching a replay or highlights etc later on. I usually try and get up or stay up for majority of games, specially the bigger games...

Not sure what you can do now, I thought that most pies fans went for newcastle or liverpool... not all collingwood supporters are bad, just the ones that follow the afl team

there is nothing weird about that, everyone outside of London hates them as much or more then their local rivals.

You going to Anzac Day? me and about 6 lads r flying over for the match and somehow we scored tickets to Foo Fighters so its going to be a long day. Last year we stayed at a mates apartment in the Docklands and we walked at 7am to find a pub that could be open, 2hrs and 30mins later we ended up in Richmond in a pub down a backstreet and it served Adelaide beer on tap. Longest but best walk ever!
Also we saw Matthew Richardson running around the streets so we got to hurl abuse at him. Double whammy!

Yeah, I will most likely be going, haven't got tickets yet though, afew mates are talking about going too, so im gonna let them organize it all...

On any given weekday, you can usually find afl players or other sporting celebs walking up and down chapel street shopping with their girlfriends, or near the city cbd somewhere. As an owner driver, I have seen many of them, it used to be exciting in a way, but now i see it as a thing i see all the time, if ya know what i mean... On the weekends, after a game, atleast one of the teams usually use one of the beachs from port melbourne down to as far as moorabbin beach, but ya gotta be up real early to see them there

I'm sure Man U win the Prem League finals every now and then. Wouldn't Collingwood need to do that in order to be compared?? Please forgive me for not being able to articulate what winning the Premier league comp is actually called seeing as I don't follow soccer because it is not a real sport (rather, for effeminate little boys with manicures). POW!
Tarrant from Melbourne (Blues supporter), 4 Mar 2008 14:06hide comment
Collingwood can't be the Man U of football, for the simple reason that our sport has a socialist draft system which prevents the same three teams from tediously dominating the entire sport by throwing money at premierships. We should be thankful, and we should not insult ourselves by comparing ourselves with soccer.
Daniel from Adelaide (Magpies supporter), 21 Feb 2008 9:40hide comment
Im a Collingwood member and also a massive Manchester United fan. Ive been on board since i was born and not one of those bandwagon supporters who wouldnt know more then 1 player on the side. You cant call any team in the AFL like Man Utd. You cant on premierships anyways cause they win trophies every year and teams in the AFL r lucky to win 1 every blue moon.
If your talking money and financial power then ur probably right in saying Collingwood r the Man Utd in the AFL but that doesnt mean anything without success on the field.
Im hoping for a Collingwood\Man Utd double this season but we will see.
Also great result against Lyon this morning, got the away goal which should see us through to the next rd. Tevez is a god and Adebayor will be practicing headers all week lol.

Lol ha ha ha ha i nearly fell off my chair. Thanks for the laugh, i really needed that. Manchester United of the football world. Hahahahahahahahahahahahah. I follow them in the premier league and here's a bit of a newsflash: you have to actually win stuff to become succesfull. Games throughout the season is one things, but its the premiership that counts and you haven't won one of those since 1990 am i not correct??? ha haha please, i can't stop now!!!!

Collingwood supporters have long been jealous of carlton, its just the way it is.

I agree, if there's a Man Utd in the AFL it's Essendon. They're the bandwagon club that all the try-hards jump on, and are univerally hated by everyone else. Like Man U, Essendon have genuine supporters, but they don't get noticed so much. The openly acknowledged hatred others have of Collingwood is more like Man Utd though.

As for replicating Man Utd's on field success, the only team tp come close to that in recent years is Brisbane, and that's past tense now. I hope the AFL never becomes as boring and predictable as the English Premier League.

Steve from Melbourne (Blues supporter), 10 Feb 2008 12:07hide comment
Manchester United have actually won stuff... hence their success and domination.

Collingwood win nothing... they are ****!

The only reason Collingwood have the most supporters is because they haven't discovered birth control yet... most of their supporters are born in prison!

Daniel from Melbourne (Magpies supporter), 25 Jan 2008 20:23, Last Reply: 26 Jan 2008 5:58 hide comment
I don't really want to be the Manchester United of AFL football and I'm not sure I have ever heard Eddie say that at all either.
I'm sure his motivation for utilising the Lexus Centre was more so to give our players an advantage with it's superior facilities etc.

The fact is Lexus Centre has been used by Collingwood for 4 or 5 years, maybe more and all that time Carlton have had the so called 'ancient' facilities at Princes Park. In that 4 or 5 years -

Carlton - 0 Premierships
Collingwood - 0 Premierships

And that is the bottom line. I would imagine down at Pie land they would want and I also hope too that the facilities bring us some success in the future.

As for being the Man.U of Aussie football. . .

Manchester United is a club that everyone outside of the UK supports just because they are the biggest, loudest, and spend the most money getting whatever player they bloody want. These people don't know anything about Man.U, they can probably name one or two players from Man.U and they look ridiculous walking around the streets of Melbourne wearing the Red Man.U jumper.
Im not sure I would want that If i was on the board at Collingwood.

It's one thing to be a superpower and it's another to be in people's faces.

Yes Robert, like the song says - Side by side we stick together, and we do.

Let's just stick together with some sense of humility though.

Finally conversation with out insults.. Daniel when have you ever known Collingwood not to be the greatest and loudest. That is the exact reason every one loves to hate COLLINGWOOD. And yes Eddie did say those words around the time we went to Lexus. Carlton will always be there cause their will always be a Pratt here and there. I love the fact we are now A.F.L. it makes for great football better than what Carlton has been offering over the last 7 or8 years. We can go on and on but i don't want to do that. But i don't agree on your call of Scotland being a reject. He at least can kick with both feet. Something at the time a few of our players couldn't.( I won't mention ) We slipped up their. Any way been great talking footy and Carlton fans in my eyes will always remain the same misunderstood and mislead lol lol

Robert.

Collingwood the greatest? Does greatness mean successful? Where is your teams success? How do you measure it?

The only reason I hate Collingwood is because of people like you... people who have no clue what they are on about and make outrageous claims that they can't back up with fact.

Fact, Carlton have won more premierships that Collingwood = Carlton are greater than Collingwood.

Fact, Manchester United win dozens and dozens of cups and premierships, Collingwood do not = Robert has no clue what he is talking about!

Fact, Collingwood are not the AFL = Robert is a fool!

You talk about Carlton being mislead??? You are mislead by your puny brain to believe what you believe about Collingwood!

As Daniel said.... SHUTUP! You have no idea what you are talking about...

Daniel from Melbourne (Magpies supporter), 25 Jan 2008 20:09hide comment
I only said it because no one else can comment because they thread is getting clogged up with someone's personal argument. If you go to the group Collingwood Football Club or Carlton Football Club you can argue one for one on the bulletin board and there isnt 8 or 9 threads hanging off each comment of two people arguing.
Steve from Melbourne (Blues supporter), 25 Jan 2008 15:54hide comment
i am pretty sure he isn't the only pies supporter wishing you would shutup... you really make no sense and make yourself look very foolish. Maybe when you finish primary school you will have learnt a few things... but that is a little while away.

you haven't been alive long enough to know the struggles that Collingwood have been through and are now in their past... Carlton have been there too and are now making some good ground.

so just grow up a bit and accept that you simply have no clue about life or football.

Go Blues!

ps- More pies supporters should get on board and tell you to shutup... maybe as your own continue to turn on you, you will learn a thing or two.
