Who's over rated Carlton fans??
Had a great laugh at the recent forum asking if Collingwood was over rated.

Let's face it Carlton hasn't won since beating Collingwood, losing to sides who have spent all of or the majority of the season bottom 8. Well the Pies have gone on to beat two current Top 4 sides. So the answer to that forum would be Collingwood is where the majority believe they would be, not the leaders of the pack but within the main bunch who could deliver the knock out punch come finals time. Top 4 is where the Premier comes from. Well not there yet the marathon is not yet over.

Carlton on the other hand have a talented playing list that is not able to play consistent football and against Collingwood they played their hearts out but can't maintain it during the long season and will fall off the back of the pack at some stage of the season.

Their fans look silly and stupid now with their behaviour and statements.

On Carlton fans, it was interesting to see in the Herald Sun's football survey only Carlton and Melbourne fans (57%) didn't have a problem with tanking. Isn't tanking cheating?? So Carlton's recent history has rubbed off on it's
supporters??? Perhaps the club is run by high profile supporters who don't mind cheating full stop, just as Dick Pratt and Elliot have done in their seperate business lives.

wat a stupid post.

i also think that its hilarious wenever eddie betts touches the footy the crowd goes nuts.... he isnt that good. he kicks like 3 or 4 good goals a year. i dont see how carlton fans think hes such a good cruming forward wen on friday nite it was the first time hes kicked more then 1 goal in a game this year!

i did expect a bit more from carlton last friday though after 5 years of tanking.

Stupid Post Matt,

Maybe you weren't at the G when they played the Pies. In fact maybe you never see these Nuff Nuff supporters "go off" when they win a game of footy. Then again they haven't beaten you since 2002. Maybe they don't rate your club just like we don't rate them which means it's an easier game. Either way you never get to see the morans in full swing.

You reckon that's bad I've gotta conduct an Auskick clinic tomorrow and it's in conjuction with Collingwood so there's gunna 6 players there. It's the second time we've had them this year cause there our zone or something like that. But seriously they are were good bunch of blokes last time and the kids loved it. But when they were signing jumpers last time I told my young fella I'd kill him if he got his signed.

Poor deluded Guy (typical whinging pies supporter). If Collingwood are so good and Carlton has beaten them easily twice this year, and u say Carlton are crap...lets see if i can follow logic..oh yea, that makes the pies even crapper. Don't get me started on your teams off field gangster antics, hmm wasnt a pies player in a mobsters car getting shot at? There is no more successful team in the history of AFL than the blues, how many flags have you won? How silly are u if you think that no other team was working the draft and salary cap system, the difference is, carlton got caught.
This is why we will always hate pies "fans", they just cant hack geaten beaten by the blues, especially twice in a year...haha...twice! breathe it in pies losers! we beat you!

You want to talk about delusion? You're deluded if you think you can follow 'logic' Your definition of logic is screwed. You judge a teams ability by how they perform in TWO games in a season?
Let's use your sense of logic:- Geelong beat Carlton by 56 points in round 10. The week before, Collingwood beat Geelong by 86 points. So, according to you, Collingwood are a 142 point better team than Carlton!
Essendon beat Carlton by 35 points and Sydney beat Essendon by 91 points. I assume therefore that you're expecting a 126 point loss this week? Actually, that mightn't be far off the mark.
Good luck you deluded 'logician'.

yes carlton got caught, carlton was milking the public and its fans... playing on the draft system which the only reason why you have a half decent playing list at the moment (save your breath if you are going to play the violin and sing to me of fev and judd, they dont make your whole team).... your team of late hav been nothing but crooks and disgraces that play on AFL history, because that all carlton really is history.... you beat us ha you can have it..... you have to throw a dog a bone sometime....

Love how everyone gets stuck into Didak at the games. Let's see Geelong's greatest ever play lied to a young girl about the substance she was about to snort. She died. St Kilda had players charged with Rape. North Melbourne's David Dench has been sent to jail for fraud. The list goes on. Didak would have been scared **** when in the situation he was in. Typical Carlton wankers taking cheap shots.

Andrew you tool.

You really don't know alot about footy do you! What stupid statements you make. Collingwood don't give a hoot you beat us twice, Carlton is one club out of 15 we have to beat. Funny thing that, you care so much and we don't rate you any higher than any other club.

Tanking is cheating mate, not working the draft as you called it. Working the salary cap as you say is constitutes cheating. Perfect example you are of the entire point in my forum.

Gangster stuff you refer to must be a reference to Didak hey Tough Man!!!
If you were in a similar situation you would go to the police and report what happen hey?? You never get into situations that you don't know how to handle???

As for your logic well you are a stupid little man aren't you. Collingwood will finish Top 4 and make the Prelim final just like last year. Where will Carlton be you tool, bottom 8. Beating Collingwood twice this year was your final series, we worry about the real stuff.

Carlton shares the most premierships with the Bombers at 16 so you don't own the title outright.

However who has won the most games in league history???
Collingwood that's who. Unlike Carlton we give our all throughout the year.

Didn't they beat Richmond?

Cartlon have a few selfish players who need to learn the value of team play. That will happen or hopefully they will be f*cked off.

I don't remember the AFL comming out with a rule that says tanking is not allowed. In fact the AFL reward it. If Collingwood were in the same position they would have done the same thing. I think your just pissed off that Judd came to Cartlon instead of Collingwood.

You guys are no better than us so quit pretending like you are.

I can't and won't defend Pratt or Elliot except to say that Pratt pretty much saved the club. Other than that he is a prick and deserves what he got.

I'm not pissed off Judd didn't come to Collingwood as we weren't in a position to acquire him even if he chose to come to Collingwood. Would I have loved him, bloody oath, he is a gun. However we would have had to give up too much and would have sufferred as a result.

Collingwood would never tank, we have to much pride in our jumper.

Sending people to surgery to be right for next year is one thing but to disgrace your jumper as Carlton did several times last year is Tanking.

For supporters to feel it is ok as the survey mentioned discovered just says alot about the club and culture.

What are you talking about disgracing the jumper? All we did last year WAS put players under the knife early so they could be right for pre-season and the proper season.
Absolutley no different to what Colingwood did in the 2005 season when they put their players into surgery before seasons end. And , hang on. what did Collingwood get out of this? Thats right , a PRIORITY PICK!!
So if theres nothing wrong with putting players into surgery before seasons end then please tell me where we disgrace our jumpers?

Craig,

As I said putting players into surgery to be right for the following season isn't tanking. Unexplainable interchange moves such as Fev's when on a roll against the Pies, that's tanking. Not winning another game after Chris Judd's manager tells ya club he is coming home, that's tanking.

As for disgracing your jumper then that's that. However should I mention selling your jumper and becoming the Aqua Blues.

Co- incidence that Fev did have surgery after that game, (might have been the week after) but obviously something wasnt right.
I'm not too sure where you have attained information that Judds manager told Carlton he was definatley leaving. If this was true and theres obviously a leak somewhere, than surely the media wouldve been all over this and broke the news.
Is Carlton the only club that has changed their jumper? that was ten years ago for gods sake,
what about the crap that adelaide, port adelade, hawthorn, melbourne etc serve up with their alternate strip.
1 reply show reply
Guy (Magpies supporter), 17 Jul 2008 9:59, Last Reply: 17 Jul 2008 21:56 hide comment
It was the media that reported Paul Connors had told Carlton he was coming home. Made the papers but wasn't followed up. Maybe that week there was more important stuff like the Cousins saga.

Other AFL clubs change their jumper to ?? raise revenue, test the supporters views I don't really know but only Carlton have sold their jumper.
On the alternative strips I don't really have an opinion. My club rightly or wrongly states they will never change, even though they have in the past that's more a president's view and could change with a new one. I really like some of the jumpers, Hawthorn's is ok, never care about SA clubs so haven't noticed. Gary Lyon might hate it and won a media campaign to get rid of it but Melbourne's 2008 is great.

How great would a Carlton win be this week???? Bloody awesome if we win Friday. It will put us in TOP 4. So good luck mate do it for the Pies

Craig from Melbourne (Blues supporter), 17 Jul 2008 21:56hide comment
hahaha, we will try! not sure if we will be doing for collingwood but anyway, a win is a win and sydney wouldnt be a bad scalp i must say.
Ill respect your opinion on Judd coming back to Melbourne, however i think it wouldve been fairly big news, even if it was the time when Cousins was coming back, seeing the story was brewing for the last year or so and he is the biggest name in football.
I think St.Kilda was another who sold their jumper with those yellow ones.
But as far as I see it , it was 11 years ago and there is no need to argue about something that is not any news in todays football.
In terms of the topic of this post, it is annoying me people , especially carlton supporters (I must admit) saying how over rated collingwood is.
Collingwood are a very good TEAM , they are disciplined and well coached which improves their abilities by about 10-15% i believe. They do match up well against some teams, Geelong and Sydney noticeably, and dont match uo well against others Carlton and North Melbourne for instance. I think the media is responsible for people believing Collingwood are over rated by saying they are a premiership threat, which i believe they aren't. They just dont have to quality of players of which Geelong, Western Bulldogs or Hawthorn do this year. But they will be there abouts come September( I hope they fall at their knees) but as long as you make the Top 8 anything can happen as they say.

I don't think Carlton are overrated I reckon were about where I thought we'd be 8-10 wins for year. On track with 7. However I don't think Pies are overrated, I think they play above themselves take that as a back handed comment.
However Guy, I had this discussion about tanking with you before. Here's some facts I still reckon we didn't necessarily tank.
Round 12 Lost to Hawks by100 fullside in
Round 13 Lost to Dockers by 77 fullside
Round 14 Demons Lost by 23 fullside
Round 15 Swans 62
Round 16 Lions 117 Pagan sacked.
Up to this stage do you think thats tanking considering a guy got the a"rse.
Round 17 Saints Ratts first game lost 10
Kouta injured last game
Round 18 Pies 24 we couldn't have tanked that as your so much better than us haha
Round 19 Power 23 over there good effort
Round 20 Ess lost by 10 Fev got injured b4 halftime didn't play again
Round 21 Roos lost by 82 Fisher does knee Lappin back doesn't play again
Round 22 Demons lost 4 goals.
So as you can see there was a significant improvement under new game plan with Ratts.
We had no Fev last 3 games no Stevens all year, Lappin and Kouta retired early. And ended up playing all the kids last 6 weeks. Plus don't forget Ratten wasn't coach yet so this was his job interview so to speak. Plus don't forget we didn't win a game for 5 years cause we could'nt. I would admit though last round there was no defence but his was the backline Andrew Walker 17 Setanta Ã" hAilpín 21 Mark Austin
HB: 18 Paul Bower 40 Michael Jamieson 29 Heath Scotland hardly bignames.

Anyway we hate you you hate us. Thats the way it should be and it's good that the rivally is getting back to where it belongs cause i rememenr when we were floggin you in early 2000's I almost stopped hating ya

We play above ourselves hey Mal?? Better than tanking. Finishing Top 4 and giving the premier a fright in the prelim isn't an achievement. Mal that's just about the highest praise I would ever expect from a Blues man such as you.

As for Tanking well re watch the games played after June and take your pick what looks out of place. Fev's being brought to the bench after almost winning the game off his own boot against Collingwood is one of many.

As for the hatred you mention, well I love my AFL to the point I almost became a neutral supporter. My hatred is born of the salary cap cheating and now the tanking. Not to mention the whinging and moaning about how hard the penalties were from the Carlton fans. Your cheating changed history and robbed the Bombers the chance to win the flag. For your president to get up and gloat knowing full well you were cheats says it all.

Just reckon you guys get everything out of yourselves. But you do struggle when some in the team are off. So congrats to Malthouse.
But you reckon we tanked againnst you guys? Thought it was more Rocca kicking four goals in the last that was the difference. You can't deny that we were havin a crack in the last 6 weeks under Ratts. Figures speak for themselves and we had the 4th youngest Carlton team ever on the park. And do you think guys with careers on the line would tank? As I've said b4 we didn't win a game hardly for 5 -6 years. As for Carlton fans whingeing and moaning they probably are because we love our club and a few people appointed by members to do the right thing fukced it up. As far as the Bombers go they were a 10 goal better side than us in 99 but didn't give us the respect on the day so their bad luck.

That's a good point, and its also why I'm slow to condemn other clubs. I'm sure just about every club has done things that their supporters aren't proud of, mine included.

I also think that there are gray areas, Essendon by Matthew Knights admission are focusing on building our team, this might come at the expense of a shot at finals and as such would result in us getting better draft picks. Would you consider this cheating?

Matthew Knights is building a side, they have won their last 4 games so improvement is noted. Knights will be doing everything he can to play finals. How safe is his job if he takes the easy way out and looks to the draft?? Sheedy has indicated his has the hunger to coach. Look what Leigh Matthews done after being sacked by Collingwood with the Lions. His coaching reputation at that point was no where Sheedy's. Knight's isn't stupid in fact he has surprised me with the improvement the Bombers have shown.

What a pies supporters going on about how can u consider urself a successful club u have won 1 flag in 50yrs comon mate give us a break. Also 99 was before we got introuble for the salary cap and also it was well documented that there was about 8 clubs who cheated but the afl just wanted to make an example of us. Also in 99 we came up against a great outfit in the roos. Also collingwood is always competetive but they dont have the points on the board in the last 50yrs and im sure most posters on here would have only seen coll win 1 flag so shut up and take ur medicine. Also we hardly tanked in rd 18 last year we brought Walker into our side which is clearley making it stronger and we played young kids that no dbout wanted to win players dont olay footy to lose no matter what u say. go back to coll and keep finishing 6th and getting no where

99 was the year that got Carlton into all the **** for the salary cap cheating. The year you are talking about was a couple beforehand where alot of the breachs were minor. The AFL didn't want to stick it to you, the level of cheating was unbelievable but that's Carlton.
