My Top 5

1- Steven Salopek- averages over 24 touchs a round but is rarely talked about
2- Mitch Hahn- very versatile can play tall small forward or midfield
3- Daniel Harris- been very good and honest typical roo
4- Jake King- teancious hard worker sorta broke out early this year though
5- Joel Patful- gets the job done week in week out

i dont rate Cross, cant kick for sh1t. Cooney, Boyd and G-Banga are way better midfielders then Cross.

Have you watched him play at all this season? For starters he handballs nearly twice as much as he kicks and thats because he's usually underneath a pack of players trying his guts out to clear the ball, which he does most of the time, if there is one player in the whole league that puts his body on the line in every game its Crossy. And whether you pay any attention to stats is your call but with a 79.42 DE%, 33 clangers, 33 tackles 336 disposals, 213 HB 133K I'd say he's doin a mighty fine job this year! Take Crossy away from the mix at the moment and I can guarantee the Doggies midfield would be nowhere near as lethal as it currently is.

i watch a lot of the doggies as my mate played for them for the last few years til he got delisted at the end of the year.
In all seriousness im not saying he doesnt put his body on the line but his kicking his not that great. Yes he does get the ball out a bit which means he uses his hands more then kicking it but i see him always running around the back of packs getting cheap touches and even then he still mainly handballs it lol.
I personally think Matty Boyd, Cooney and Guido are better players cause they dont try and get cheap touches. Tough as and disposal is a grade.

I respect your opinion mate, but just thought id point out that cross is 2nd only to cooney for contested possesions at the doggies!

I agree on all of those a few more spring to mind.

In MY opinion J. Corey, T. lockyer, and even though B. Kirk is called the spirituial leader of the swans he never gets mentioned in the elitle midfielders and I would pick this bloke to play for the hawks anytime

Agree with you on all. Mitch Hahns a great player. He can do so many roles and never fails to complete them.

I dont think Swan is overrated if you ask me. I dont see any skill in playing loose and getting 25 touches a game only to have about 60% effectivness. Every teams got atleast 1 player that does that but you need them to link passes out of defence so they have value.

To add to the list alot of ruckman are alot better than what people give credit for. They dont get alot of stats but they are good players. Hale from the roos. Both the hawks and dogs rucks and Cameron Cloke from the blues are good players that dont get alot of credit.

Back when I used to do Supercoach, Salopek was my big bargain. He is starting to get some recognition from sensible commentators, and I heard them surmising a few weeks back that he has emerged (from pick #6) as the best player from his draft.
