Can we beat Geelong?
we are playing the Cats soon in the their heart land. Can we beat them in their current form and in their Heart land? i think we can but it might be a hard ask.

What does everything think?
and who is goin to the game?

Not sure about the headline...maybe just " Doggy Style"

Geelong at full strength are probably the best in the comp, but the doggies will welcome back Griff and Welsh and should win, even at the Cattery (which shouldn't hold any fear for the doggies players). Geelong will miss Ablett as much as we missed Griff in last week's woeful display against Melbourne.

What is it with games prior to big ones - we lost to North the week before Hawthorn, and played crap before this one against the Cats. Are the players focussed a week ahead?

I'm not convinced we've quite got the skills to take geelong YET. Admittedly, we've got a better back line than I think I've ever seen in the dogs, but we squander too many chances inside 50 and Geelong on song will makes us pay. The game will be won and lost in the midfield and I think Geelong have a year's experience on us that will make the difference on the day.

we'll smash 'em

I miss Tom, He completes this amazing new fresh backline, Can't wait to see him back in the line up, Go back to the Magpies game i was thinking we have the best running tall defenders together in the AFL, Then Tom goes down, It hurts, That backline was tight really starting to function.
Best part was they started to hold teams to lower scores which is as important as kicking wining scores.

Come back soon Big Tom.

Rather than answer your question I'd like to pose a new one: Does beating Geelong in the home and away season makes us more or less likely to be able to beat them in the finals series. Remember West Coast 2006?

if we finsh top 2 or top 3 we wont play the cats until grand final (unless we loss in the first week and then we will play them) but we should be good enough to beat them twice. by the final we should have a full list and be full of energy.
in 06 we were out of players (we only 26 players left to pick from in the end and just ran out of legs. but this year we are injury free and looking great (so far).

i think you've got a good point!
we'LL win this weekend!
& i agree that beating them now wiLL make them more determined to beat us next time!-
im not confident about beating them in finaLs....yet!

if we get our running game 100% up & going we might be sLick enough to beat em in a finaL. Coons and griffo have gotta carry it more... heaps more! and take a few more bounces- coons dishes off sometimes just for the sake of it when he shouLd turn it on and charge thru. And WiL & Huddo shouLdnt be aLLowed to kick unLess they mark it in the square!

we were rotten on the weekend but i think we'LL bounce back pretty fierceLy. getting griffo and scotty weLsh back wiLL heLp 2. (didnt reaLise how important weLsh is to our structure untiL he wasn't there! i'm his new #1 fan!)

Oh no now you've opened up old wounds. I thought my scars had healed since then lol, and your right we did beat WC at home that year. And I have found myself saying this alot but finals are a differnt story, we want to beat Geelong this weekend so we can enjoy top spot on the ladder again. How good would it be to start round 17 on top of the ladder? And all I can say is that I'm absolutely spewin I missed out on getting a ticket for the game, because if we beat them we stop them from breaking an all time record of 34 2 from 36 games played. I wish it was being played in Melb :-(

i dont think we can. maybe at the MCG but even then it will be hard... i think we will struggle containing their defence / midfield as they run forward.

well after 97 and 98 im taking it easy so far lol. im just saying it isnt likely that we will win (although a lot more likely now given that Ablett and Ling are out).

passionate? ive been a member every year since i was 10 years old, paying for it myself (which was a lot for a 10 year old). oh and i bawled my eyes out in 1997, and danced semi-naked down the street when we beat essendon in round 21, 2000. and if we make the grand final this year well i'll cry whether we win or loose. having said that, geelong by 20 points this round ...and dogs by 10 on grand final day, Will Minson taking out 2 geelong/hawk players on the opening bounce.

Rebecca from Horsham (Bulldogs supporter), 14 Jul 2008 17:02hide comment
i think we have more speed and talent than Geelong and i think that the Doggies will go out there and give it all they have and win it for the supporters that will be watching them on television and the ones that are at the game. i think Geelong are just weak and no puff and they need a good ruff up from the Doggies.
Marie from Melbourne (Bulldogs supporter), 14 Jul 2008 8:43hide comment
I think we are a good chance at beating the cats. We have done it before in their heart land and the way we are playing at the moment we can do it agian. GO Dogs!!!

We can beat them, they will have to have Welsh and Griffen back though. Plus no Ablett or Ling improves our chance.. Keep up the intencity and must play better tha they did against Melbourne

Garry and Ling are out for the game next week. there might be others out too. but the main ones out are Garry and Ling. We have a better chance of winning now with those 2 out and a couple other key player carrying injuries.

well dogs fans you don't need to worry if you didn't get tickets for the game the game wil be live on channel 10. it is good that they have aloud the game to be live on tv. it will be the highest rating game so far this year. fans of footy will love the game. GO DOGGIES
Kristian from Brisbane (Bulldogs supporter), 12 Jul 2008 7:58hide comment
I think we can beat them but as we all know it will come down to the day. 2 of the strongest and best teams of the season head to head. It will be a preview of what i believe to b the grand final this year. And i put my money on each team will play like it is the grand final. But lets hope we dont do any injuries in the process..

GTD 08!!!
