I've followed the Tigers for nearly 40 years and after the years we've had recently I am seriously considering dropping the Tigers and following someone else (Maybe one of the NEW teams). If it wasn't for Richo I would have done it years ago. He is a true Tiger champion and once he retires from the Tiges, sorry, but so do I. I'm tired of the same crap year after year. No skill, no talent, no hope. They will never be a good team and Terry wallace has puth them back 10 years. Big mistake getting him. So, these new teams might come at a good time for me. Once Richo hangs up his boots I'll be neading a new club.

I've been following for a long time now and every time his contract comes up for renewal, I cringe. He's holding us back.

holding us bak??

richo is the only guy u can count on to give 110% every game he plays for the yellow and back!!!

his output is 1000000 times better than rocca or gehrig

Richo is a champion. Look maybe at crucial times he has failed but all in all he is a Tigerman through and through.
This year will be one of his best, he will be seeing it as one of his final opportunities to impress and leave his stamp on the game. If the ball is delivered well enough to him this year there is no reason why he can't kick a bag of 100 goals. Infact with the odds with what they are on him at the moment I am going down to sportbet to put $100 on him now.

The guy is a champion. Only reason opposition supporters think he has a sookie la la approach is because thats a media induced persona of him.

And i should remind people that although he may be erratic with his goal kicking, he does have the record for the MOST goals at the MCG and is top 20 for ALL TIME goal kickers.

Richo is nothing short of a champion. Anyone who thinks that his dummy spits and the fact that he kicks a lot of points is the reason he is holding him back, have a little bit of a think about why he cracks a wobbly at his team mates.

He can lead for a pass from a team mate for about 20m before any of them realise and kick the ball to him, if they do that at all. He's always on top of his defender and is most often double teamed. Yet he still manages to take screamers over the top of his opponents every game. And look at his age!

What about the stuff he does when he's not kicking goals? He's often outside the forward 50, leading up the ground creating opportunities for other team members. When he delivers the ball to the forward 50, its almost always on the mark.

Richo is the heart and soul of the club, and of the team. If Kane Johnson held half the sway with the players that Richo did, he might be a half decent captain. Richo's team mates love him, so obviously the dummy spits cant be too disheartening!

That said, GO TIGERS! And GO RICHO for 2008!

Richo is a legend - that's why he one Best & Fairest. But i think he would be better utilised center half forward as he kicks waqy better on the run..

An outsider's point of view here. . .

Richo does hold you back.

I know supporters of four different clubs that find his sooky la la approach to football disturbing.

I am by no way saying that my comments represent the majority of football supporters but he has had accuracy problems for far too long, much like Anthony Rocca.

Difference is Anthony doesnt blame everyone else for his own lack of performance time and time again.

Having Richo point fingers at teammates and constantly have a cry must not be very heartening for the youngsters.

all in all he works is heart out and bleeds yellow and black we as a team won only 4 and a half games last year and without the big man i assure you it would of only been 1, so he has a right to be pissed of with bad deliveries. as for looking bad to the youngsters they will one day realise what he has done for the club. by the end of his career he will have nearly 900 goals and be in the top 10 all time goal kickers NOT BAD FOR A SOOKY LA LA APPROACH do believe he has torn the pies apart a few times? or do we forget that.

Difference is mate that the way the ball gets delivered to richo differs a bit form how the pies kick it anthony.

How many times has anthony kicked 10 goals in a game???

Richo no longer berates his teamates as he has done in the past. What you need to do is sit at a game and watch how hard the bloke works then come back to me.

Mate, i am not arguing with you, Anthony Rocca is a f*&^potato, I am in no way suggesting he is any better than Richo. . .

If he works so hard and still has a cry when he doesnt get the ball on his chest then why does everyone think still think so?

Brent from Melbourne (Tigers supporter), 17 Jan 2008 18:46hide comment
Seriously sandy you have no idea and musn't be a true supporter if you think richo is holding us back.

Matthew Richardson is the heart and soul of our football club if half of the players had his courage ie: playin with a factured eye socket etc we would be a much better club.

The bloke has had to carry the club for the last 5 years.
