Terry's 5 Year Plan
So does anyone actually think that Terry's five year plan is going to work??? All i know is this season, 2008, we may still have crap skills and not be able to get the ball...but hell we shall be fast!

He's made the tough choices but i dont think he is the man for the job going forward either,as for Sheedy maybe 5 years ago but not now.

I wouldnt be suprised if the Tiges chase Voss pretty hard for the coaching job and if things arent working out by mid year it will be sooner rather than later.

Oh and didnt Wallace take the Bulldogs to a few final series?

Contrary to what alot of people believe, i think Wallace's plan of rebuilding is a great one and one that will hopefully pay off in a couple of seasons. He now has a group of skillful young guns that are only going to improve and get stronger. The Tigers improvement started to become evident towards the end of last season and with a good preseason behind them they can achieve anything.

Skillful young guns? Obviously you didn't see our match against St.Kilda.. Our disposal was shocking. It was like watching a reserves team kicking around in a bush league.

Lets wait and see. I read the Herald yesterday, the article on the tigers and what he said was right, richmond have to win two of the first three games to get some belief into the young side and make feel like they can play finals in 2008. Wallace wasnt the right mould for the tigers as he will do what he did with the bulldogs, he'll make them into a small running side with very few talls. As you see with the bulldogs they dont have a key centrehalf forward until richmond get one of those in the same mould as carey or Brown, well struggle to make a impact in any season.

I think although unscene as yet, Terry has done great, this year you will see alot of the youger players mesh together not scene at Tigerland since 1995. That year we went 7 wins for 7 games largely due to the belief that the players had instilled in themselves. This year we are injury free at the start of the season, had probably the best preperation in years in the pre-season and in his fourth year at the club not only will he be set to impress, but the whole player group will respond accordingly.
To sell ourselves any short of the top eight this year would be defeatest, it is essential that we get back to being that power house of old.
It is a shame to see membership has declined again, my last check showed about 18,000, the second lowest of ant Victorian side. Lets only hope when the boys start to win and show that they are the real deal members do come out in the droves.
I am now 34 yrs old and have been waiting along time to taste some finals, atleast I have scene several, but their are alot of people out there disenchanted by their beloved team, lets hope this year can erase some anguish away.

I'm with Daniel from Traralgon in this. We've waited this long, another year won't kill. You can't turn around the mess that we were in, in a couple of years. We tend to forget the shape Danny Frawley left us in - serves us right for letting a St Kilda person take charge

I would agree to an extent Lorraine, but personally I think John Longmire would be the one to chase, Terry might might have 2 years to run on his contract but I would say that anything short of a finals place would see Terry back pouring pots at his pub! I He has talked a big game when he got to Richmond, its time to put up or shut up.............

If Terry is out, I don't want Sheedy automatically in. I think he is past his prime. I would like to give Chris Bond the job. He has been close in getting a senior job recently. It would be great to get him back to the club.

Lorriane,
I completely argee, Sheedy in would be a massive mistake! The game has changed since he started coaching, Bond would be a great idea, also Rawlings is the new Coburg coach i think he might be aiming to be one of the next senior coaches, which i dont think would be a bad idea.

I agree with this topic guys.. I don't see enough chances to tell Australia that we are working on a better team overall. Hopefully I'm wrong but there is too many non-performing players still wearing the yellow and black....
Daniel from Traralgon (Tigers supporter), 28 Jan 2008 15:01hide comment
Coughlan, Brown, Simmonds bak from injury.... Deledio, Foley, Tambling, Raines, Cotchin, Foley, Connors, Edwards, Morton, Jackson, Riewoldt, Thursfield, Polo... All under 22 and with a bright future, they gave Terry 5 years for a reason, we had no young stars. We have all waited 28 years, im sure we can wait another 2..
Courtney from Melbourne (Tigers supporter), 24 Jan 2008 12:39hide comment
I think Wallace announced the stupid 5 year plan just to save his butt last year however someone had wised up and rumour has is that if we dont have at least 4 wins by round 8 that wallace is out Sheedy is in!
Mathew from Gold Coast (Tigers supporter), 24 Jan 2008 11:13hide comment
If we have a crap year by starting the season 0 and 8, Wallace won't be coaching. So we better do something this year
Justin (Tigers supporter), 18 Jan 2008 10:00hide comment
I think we have to look at things seriously guys.. At work last year we did a pick ho u think the ladder will end up and I picked us to finish last and we did, u can tell by looking at our list that it'll be another 3 or 4 years before we may have a truly competetive team with the top 8.. Yeah we might steal a game off top 8 teams in the next the years but I think it will be 3 years before we are truly a top 8 team and contenders for pushing for a top 4 spot, we have a lot of young KIDS.. and there not going to develope overnight, Hopefully we get a good coach in 2009 who'll give these kids a lot of confidence, 1 thing is guaranteed Wallace won't be there, if someone puts a 5 year plan into place and finish last on the ladder at the end of there 4th year like we did last year in his 4th year well than obviously his plan hasn't been a success.. Sure Wallace might be a nice guy, but we need a coach who the guys will respect, it seems we've had coaches that have tended to mother the boys rather than bring them up and turn them into men. get somebody coaching like the great Carl Ditterich somebody who'll tell them exactly what they have to do and make them do it..

I also think that Terry's five year plan is heading us in the right direction, but I suspect the deadline of finals success might still prove elusive at the end. Until our ruck department can mix it with the best in the league, and the rest of the team learn how to apply some serious tackling pressure, we're not really going to be serious contenders for the flag.
Here's hoping for brighter days ahead.

2008 who knows what will happen?? i didn't expect us to finish 16th last year but we definately wont be there this year! can we make the eight? i really hope so but i think it is realistically two years off. we are definately on the right track but so are the hawthorns, carltons and the likes! another very even competition this year! i moved from vic to qld two years ago and once again my beloved tigers do not play up here again this year. looks like ill be travelling back to the "G' to see a few games. GO TIGERS!

I'm looking forward to 2008 big time. Coughlin's silky skills back in the midfield, Brown fully fit, Simmonds back so Pattison can run amok up forward, and with another preseason of meat and muscle onto Thursfeld and McGuane the defence will be looking like tight.......Go Tiges....eat 'em alive
