For melbourne or beyond?
This topic should raise some heads.
everyone down at north melbourne is talking about the pride to stay in melbourne. I believe it would be in the best interests of the club to move to the gold coast permamently but I am thinking of the long term success of the club. The Lions have benefitted greatly from AFL assistance and I believe the Kangaroos could do the same. Its a dog eat dog world and Mr brayshaw and co. should seriously reconsider their decision to stay in melbourne and think of the long term possibilities for the club.

Any thoughts??

Let me state, I am an avid supporter and member, always have been and always will be, its all I have ever known - I was named after Croswell for the 75 cup incidentally my birth year....Geez guys AFL is bigger than one club, our club is hurting now and for how much longer will it last ? 10 - 15 years ?? Not likely.... they should have grabbed the guarantee of 20 - 30 years in the game and we will all still support them through thick and thin. To hell with the BS surrounding the fear of moving , its football, and the coast is AFL mad at the moment thanks to the lions and AFLQ punching massive dollars into what is arguably the next feeding frenzy for AFL clubs to look at? Draft Picks , and dollars could have seen another flag inside 3-5 years , cut our losses and stay.... who are you kidding when you state lets silence them on the park!!! Fat lot of good two GF's did our club in 96, 99, I think we cleared 50k for a premiership year with the king at the helm. Do any of you see that happening again really soon??? Need to toe the line huddle to where we are able to survive because the game isnt waiting for us to catch up. Maybe you need to understand what it is to be an interstate fan before you cast your comment??

Leave melbourne we are a dead club, stay and fight like we have for the last 100 odd years, we are not known as shinboners for nothin, buy up a membership now, record members this year already... thats the only way we will survive.....
constant, loyal and financial members.... long live north melbourne

Financially the move to the Gold Coast would be good, but what about the supporter base?
Do many people up north support North?Would they even go to a match?
This decision needs to be weighed up carefully. It is not just about money,it is also about the fans and those that pay their memberships.

don't think i'd pay for a membership to go and see em in Queensland.Think of all the people who will get sacked from the club if they move .Goes to show you can't buy us off with money (afl)I'd rather go down having a fight to keep our home and the people in victoria who made the club great than to be home based in queensland and never going to see them at home.remember if you ask kids now who fitzroy is they don't know.If you have somekind of heart in that chest of yours and if it is still beating Get a membership spread the word to all members say you give a f*** show the shinnboner spirit don't lay down and be eaten by dogs JOIN THE FIGHT become a MEMBER now!!!!!!!!

North supporters have shown so far, (membership up 9000 this time last year) that by staying in Melbourne and bringing the right people to the club OFF FIELD i.e James Brayshaw, Ron Joseph etc that the club may be financially viable. From this every TRUE NORTH SUPPORTER must realise that passion for our great club alone will not allow it to compete in an ever increasing aggressive market where the weakest will sink. North supporters, buy a membership or the club will not be around for us to talk about Careys 7 goals, 28 possessions against the Bombers in 93, Brett Allisons hauls against Geelong in the elim final 96, Jason Mcartneys come back against the Tigers, the four great premierships etc etc etc etc etc. Buy a membership or it will be just a memory.

Are you really a NORTH MELBOURNE supporter? or just a cock?
Do you have any idea of what tradition is?
If we go up there 138 years is gone out the window.
there would be NO MORE north just as there is no more Fitzroy.
Every decision would be made by the afl's hand picked board.
So how would we still be North?
Go put your Collingwood jumper on and shut the **** up.

Stay in Melbourne for sure, m dad grew up in broadmeadows and played for the North Melbourne reserves, it's where the club belongs.. why change a legacy like that?

I was probably one of the few Kangaroos supporters who felt that the club needed to head North to survive (as unpopular as that opinion was).

The one issue that did irk me (although I may not be 100% correct in this) was that a completely new entity would supposedly have been created and owned by the AFL.

For a club that was playing the emotional card, I believe this was one of the major sticking points (along with some stadium deal or something or other) that made moving difficult seeing that the club was heavily keen on preserving its identity and soul.

Having said all that, the decision has already been made so let's support the club through this difficult time and do our best to see it through.

The appointment of Arocca is an interesting one. Apparently, he has a pretty good track record at Collingwood. Let's see if he can produce some similar results here.

It seems fairly apparent that you have a lack of depth of feeling for the club.

"Playing the emotional card" seems to be a term used when people are seen to be passionate about their club. It wasn't a card that the club played, it was a natural reaction from a suburban club that has deep roots (132 years) and is sick and tired of being pushed around because they have a few thousand less payed up members of their club.

Why money should come into the reckoning of the survival of a club at this level after this long after all we have contributed is beyond me.

Hundreds of millions.......I'll say it again.....HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars are generated into the AFL's coffers for facilitating the running the league. They are NOT Judge Jury and Executioner. They while being partly responsible for the state of the competition as it stands , have made a whole heap of mistakes.

The thing that makes our game great and profitable is the game itself, the sooner people realise that the AFL are merely facilitators with a great resposibility the better.

For the sake of a shorter missive I will not comment on the media save to say that Caroline Wilson and Patrick Smith should themselves be relocated ... as far away as possible.

Its time for all North people to stand together, the die has been cast and if you love the club then you WILL become a member, if you don't then you do not SUPPORT the North Melbourne Football Club but merely barrack for it.

I reckon the Kangas should go up North. The only proviso ids that get to play all the Melbourne teams in Melbourne as "away" games. They don't have to go to Perth, Sydney, Adelaide or Geelong. This way North supporters in Melbourne to see the Roos just as much as they have in the past.
Alison from Echuca (Kangaroos supporter), 24 Jan 2008 8:50hide comment
The final decision has been made and I believe it is the best one. Brayshaw, Arocca and their new team have already improved things that have been below par for years. And that is before they start announcing sponsors etc. Over 17,000 members before the end of January proves they made the right decision.
Lynette from Wangaratta (Kangaroos supporter), 23 Jan 2008 13:36hide comment
Roos should stay in Melbs, its our home and we should be proud of it. Go Mr Brayshaw and the new management team, keep the roos in melb and make the roos what they used to be!
