Disappointing Start.
So we kicked off with a loss, and a pretty bad one at that! But Demon supporters, we need to get behind our team and focus on next week.

So lets hear everyone...'GO DEES!'

I just want to say that i am slightly disappointed by their effort this week. Fair enough we have been playing top teams but... today... Calrton...... Oh well, at least we will win something...Robbo on it takes two. Go Robbo.

Need to look on the bright side, it can only really get better from here on in.

With Whelan, Riv, Col, Dunn, Frawley all to return from injury, we should do a lot better in the coming weeks.

We have a decent record against the Doggies, so I still hold out hope that we'll get our first points on the board come this saturday.

Very sad start for us, but here is hoping for a better effort for James Macdonalds 200th this week agains the bulldogs. Good signs that Weetra and later in the game Morton were doing ok in the first senior match. Moloney and Yze very dissapointing. Paul Johnson best game for the dee's - he is our number 2 ruckman. Jamar will struggle to get a game if he continues on this good form.

Think positive and lets hope our players can string together a win and bounce back this week.

Go dees!

I find it disappointing that we blame our players. Don't forget this is a new year with a different coach...still with the training wheels on too! I suggest mixing it up a little...if we are looking like we are going to get our butts kicked lets shuffle the players around. I remember that a certain player (Brad Green) found he could play other positions just as well! Lets look how we can fix it, look on the positive side instead of bagging our players hey! Lets go Dees!

I haven't given up on them in 40 years, so i don't plan on doing it now. I have become somewhat numb to the shalackings but still go week in week out with the deep down faith that we might actually win this week. Where is a player like David Schwartz when you need a player to show a bit of passion and heart and soul and lead the team?
Come on Dees.

We have to many players that should not be in the side???!!! NEITZ (OUT) -- MILLER (OUT) -- WHEATLEY (OUT) -- BELL (OUT), there just not up to it! how many chances does miller get?? im baffled i thought he shouldnt be in the team 4 years ago! Neitz is an exception, only in the team because of respect, but lets face it ppl he is a very weak forward and respect doesnt win you matches! We should also trade Sylvia, he's given us nothing at all! lets get rid of him while we can get something 'alright' for him! I never thought we were going to have a good season this year, i'm all up for the re-building process... Honelstly who cares if we get the spoon, yeah it'll be a hard year but we will also get 'Nata Nooie' the sudanese genuis that is already being said to be no.1 draft pick! Something has to be done down at that footy club!!! lets start by being realists, and start chopping some old warts!

i agree richard, as a fellow demon supporter we do have so many players that should be OUT like u said. Miller is the worst player i have ever seen to play the game, neitz is just to old and should just retire, wheatley is bad and so is bell. Maloney will have a big year this year aswell as Mclean and the most uderated youngster of the game Jones.
Nathan from Melbourne (Demons supporter), 25 Mar 2008 13:56 hide comment
Hey Richard you make some good points but there are some dumb points as well. Neitz holds every record at melbourne and gives his heart and soul for this club every week. Weak forwards DON'T win coleman medals so get off his back. We only kicked 6 goals last week and that is certainly not his fault, he was forced up the ground to try and stop the onslaught. Bell is a bit unfair, he was forced on to a taller opponent and wasn't helped by the lack of pressure from the midfield. Open your eyes mate, the team lost by 104 points so stop trying to be a hero and pick on only a few players, especially someone like neitz who has and continues to do so much for this football club. He certaintly doesn't deserve that **** from anyone let alone his own dickhead supporters.
Colin from Melbourne (Demons supporter), 24 Mar 2008 14:33 hide comment
can't believe anyone who had been supporting us for 42 years would be bothered by this sort of form.... we had plenty of poor starts from 1965-1986 with out even looking like playing a final... And since then we have always managed to squeeze some results like this one into even our good seasons... I will go next week and the week whether we lose by 100 or win by 100. Even my three year old still wanted the song before bed! Go Dees.

Colin you are a legend mate. True fans like yourself are hard to find these days so good on you. Melbournes last flag was 20 years before i was born but will continue to go to every dees game regardless of the scoreboard or the ladder for as long as my health lets me. I guess that's what the TRUE supporters of a football club like you and i Colin do. COME ON THE DEMONS.
Gary (Demons supporter), 24 Mar 2008 15:08 hide comment
that is the problem Colin ,having seen too many Melbourne sides capitulate so easily over the years has earn them the softest team in the league tag.As long as a side TRIES and you can see that they have put in win or loose they have earnt respect .
Can anyone honestly say that what we saw yesterday was a melbourne side that tried ? (you may have noted that not once have I called this side demons as they do not deserve to be called that ) I still play AFL with an old boys team and even we play harder and put in more than this current Melbourne side .
yes I am hard on them and they should be a lot harder on themselves ,there is a lot of soul searching to be done by the playing group before next week
Carl from Melbourne (Demons supporter), 24 Mar 2008 15:02 hide comment
Totally agree with Cam. Unfortunately you can't get rid of all your experience at once however how can you expect the youth in the side to be best afield? Paul Johnson tried his guts out. Carroll is a disgrace. About time people such as him and even Robertson to a smaller extent realise the club isn't all about them. Stop worrying about your own ego and put in some one percenters. If Brad Green gets one more soft handball I'll scream. I understand what we had to get rid of Trav Johnstone but at least he looked as if he cared...

I for one have supported the Melbourne footy club for forty two years and I wont be watching a side that comes out and expects supporters to pay to watch them embrass themselves and insult the very jumper they wear ,ask yourself where was the pride in the jumper ? wher was the passion of 150 years of playing ? its time the players and coach both learnt that supporters will not and should not find that acceptable
Nathan from Melbourne (Demons supporter), 24 Mar 2008 13:14 hide comment
Yes it was a very dissapointing start to the year but at least we can't go any worse. Good on u candice for urging demon fans to get behind the team. Now is when the boys need our support so lets all get to the game vs doggies next sat at the g. Those true melbourne fans will be there, I know i will be.
Cam from Horsham (Demons supporter), 24 Mar 2008 11:33 hide comment
Yeah it's dissapointing and I really don't see it getting any better. Yze has finished, White, Neitz (as much as i love him),Miller, gone. Why didn't John Meesen get a run? And I did not see any moves to suggest Bailey is the right man for the job. I think it's time to bottom out, and get some good kids on the park. I thought Buckley and Morton were best. What does that say?
