Are Geelong fans getting too obsessed with their players?
I heard half the team can't even walk the streets of Geelong without getting massive crowds. Andrew Mackie had a dozen people watch him buy a car. Mark Blake has someone approach him every day about missing the GF.

How annoying!

no, playing in the AFL u have to expect alot of attention and fans...u cant be a sports hero without the fans whether they be obsessive or just your ordinary fan.

but sometimes people just have to know when enoughs enough.

OHH and Andrew Mackie drives red/maroon holden commadore,

but i think player like ablett get given a car.

Untrue, from Geelong & only idiots (non supporters) are the ones they get hassled by (eg, p.chapman at the cremorne last week)

PS - players don't get free cars

WHAT A LOAD OF sh#t!!!!
Geelong residents respect the team and its players, it's the wack ones that seem to harass them.... Sure it's good to see a player here and there but i highly doubt "MASSIVE CROWDS" TURN UP....

I dont think Its anything like the Perth Mob....apparently the players over there are like "A" list celebrities...

Why would Andrew Mackie buy a car when they are sponsored by Ford?? I believe they get given a car! Unless its a decent car like a Holden???

I think thats a bit of an exaggeration....I know most of my mates who also grew up in Geelong support the CLUB.....generally the players are a bit short on intelligence so they are hardly worth worshipping.....supporters support the club as players come and go

Get over it mate, passion for the game is what it's called, and geelong has more of it than any team in the comp.
