As a cats suppoter i was sad to loose Steve king, but as the season progresses i can only say the powers to be at Geelong have belief in their decissions and we can only sit back in ore in the team they have fasioned

well heres what i think, the reason we got rid of kind instead of blake was salary cap related, i believe king is a far better player, but he was just to expensive for someone who didnt play that many games, hopefully we get another ruckman soon because as much as i love blakey i just dont think he is a very good player.

Blake was the right call, King is getting too many injuries now he is older and is out of the saints line up injured at the moment

well firstly i'd like to say i think the cats made the right choice...

i think the theory behind it was that you will probably get 3-5 more good years out of ottens and king, whereas mark blake is a decade player (he's rated highly by the coaching staff). If king were to stay then blake said he's go.

so the cats made the choice that blake will be fine to back up ottens for the next few years before taking up the number 1 ruck role.

unfortunately with otto's injury things haven't gone to plan, and in hindsight it would be handy to have kingy on the list now with his experience.

but this is good experience for blakey in the number 1 slot, and good for westy and mums, and when otto gets back in a few weeks (hopefully) i think it will prove to be the right choice.

and further down the track when kings retired and blakey is the comps best ruckmen, and having bounces and kicking goals, it definitely would have proved to be a good decision all those years ago.
