How do you feel about Nathan Ablett leaving?
Must admit I'm stunned that someone with such talent can just walk away while thousands of kids out there can only dream of having the opportunities he's been given.

How do you feel about Nathan's decision to step away from the club?

I totally disagree with Anthony as Nathan never really had it in his heart to play AFL in the first place..He felt pressured into it because of his dad and brother.Nathan was a good player but he knows he will never be as good as his famous dad.Im sure he will find happiness elsewhere and good luck to him also...

yes it was sad to see him leave for awhile hopefully he will come back but i rekkon it will be hard for him to get into the team with tom hawkins playing well

Please respect Nathan's decision.

You have to give him credit for making the tough decision and admitting that his heart wasn't in it any more.

if he wasnt in it 100% for '08 then its better off him not being there. its a shame, but ultimately his decision. none of us are him. only he knows what he wants and no-one should dictate his own life. very brave thing to do, nath.

Gary Snr did the same. I hope that they don't let him play at any level and hopefully he will discover that playing footy is his passion after all and come.

I reckon its an honest shame he walked away from the team from a supporters perspective - he was just beginning to show his capabilities last year. As excited as I am to see Loners & Tomahawk get their chances this year because of it, I reckon a 3 prong tall foward line with Nate Ablett & Moons woulda been glorious to watch. I hope he makes it back.

he never wanted to play in the first place. It took balls to call it a day. It is better for him to stand aside and give the position to a player that wants it 100%. Good luck Nathan!

If we had to twist his arm to get him to play for us in the 1st place then this result was always a possibility. Let's just hope that "TOMAHAWK" is ready this year.

Is sad to see him leave the game. He is a great player and hopefully one day he will come back bigger and better.

It was a shock, but he never really wanted the public life of an afl player, particularly in a town like geelong. He has played in a premiership team at the highest level, lived every boys dream, and now is stepping away. his father did it and came back, theres talk of him playing vfl late this year, so i doubt he'll be gone for good.

I could not believe nathan will be leaving. How about his brother? was he still playing in a cat too????

Well gary snr technically did the same thing.. hopefully he will realise some passion and come back to play. at least he didnt defect to another club. If its not what he wants, then its not what he wants... i just hope he starts wanting it.

I totally agree with the last comment! He wasn't committed in the first place, he was actually almost forced or pushed! So i'm glad he didn't leave it too long and I give him credit for being honest!

Good Luck in the future Nathan!!

at least he is stepping aside and giving other kids who have more of a passion a chance to play. hopefully he will be back in the future
