The AFL decides not to penalise Jonathan Brown for his comments regarding Hawks forward Lance Franklin's head-high contact with Crow Michael Doughty.

Brown was critical of the rough conduct report, describing the incident as "like a fly hitting his head" while putting himself under scrutiny due to the fact that club officials and players are not permitted to comment on cases put before the match review panel.

"We accept that Jonathan Brown's comments were not intended to influence or affect the outcome of the Franklin case and no sanction will apply," AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson said.
