WHEN NAB AFL National Draft hopefuls Cyril Rioli Jr, Marlon Motlop and Charlie McAdam settle down to await their fate on November 24, they will do so knowing that indigenous players have a better chance to make it in the AFL than ever before.

Maurice Rioli, Daniel Motlop and Gilbert McAdam helped pave a way for their nephews, cousins and sons to reach the AFL and now a road once less travelled is jammed with talent and greater opportunities to play at the highest level.

Last year a record 15 indigenous players were drafted, including Essendon duo Leroy Jetta and Alwyn Davey, Richmond’s Shane Edwards and Port Adelaide speedster Nathan Krakouer.
