Lance Franklin ejected from CQ Bar
Lance Franklin is escorted out of the CQ Bar in Melbourne after an altercation with other patrons, one of whom is believed to be a Collingwood footballer.

According to Channel 9's Footy Confidential, Franklin is alleged to have been approached in a cordial manner by two women and the footballer before behaving aggressively towards them.

Franklin denies the claims and has told the Hawthorn Football Club that he did not throw a drink at anyone.

Hawks chief executive Ian Robson says he is happy with Franklin's version of events and considers the matter as having been satisfactorily dealt with.

"After becoming aware of these additional allegations overnight I have spoken at length with Lance and a number of the other Hawthorn players and impartial witnesses who were in attendance on the night," said Robson.

"I am satisfied that there is no substance to the allegation relating to the throwing of a drink over patrons at the club and as to the allegation of the language that may have been used, Lance is unable to specifically recall what was said, however, denies it was of a sexual nature.

"In the absence of further information being brought forward the club now sees the matter as closed."

Heard the rumours about him having had the 3 strikes for drugs but nothing has been done about it and the same again with this incident.......I agree they should also be allowed to have a life but why is it different when the player is from a state other than Vic - all hell breaks loose!!???

Yeah luv watching him play, he's not one of my absolute fav's but he's up there. I was dirty on him for a few years when he was first given the captainsy cos I am a huge Peter Matera fan and wanted him to get it (pathetic I know LOL) Very sad and disappointing to see him spiral out of control the way he did - regardless of what team they play for, you don't want to see a player go through that!! Let's hope he is on the road to recovery and doing well.

Franklin = afl's golden boy!! he is a draw card thats why his name wasnt leaked to public in documents late last year.by reports ive heard he has tested positive & on his last warning!!!!! afl want it kept quite because he is a young guy who is a superstar, which equals $'s for the afl. wonder if they would put up with it if it was a interstate player eg.cousins!!!

AS they said last night on the footy show these people arent just making allogations and not coming forward they've spoken on camera and theres been a big rumour for a while that Franklin may have been one of the 9 hawks that was involved with positive tests to a banned substance and was in the car with wellingham allegedly! He's a bit of a tool and pretty keen on himself I wouldn't be surprised if he saw this player and thought piss off Im beyond you, total tool. Hawks are going to defend him all the way which is fair enough we did it with Dids.
Tarrant from Melbourne (Blues supporter), 3 Jun 2008 17:38 hide comment
He was in the car when Sharrod Wellingham was caught drink-driving. His name was unofficially linked to the reports that Channel 7 weren't allowed to show us. He's also an aggressive and pompous player on the field. This allegation cannot be discarded so flippantly.
